As poker players we are a minority and met with prejudice. We are often seen as degenerate gamblers. Those who don’t play tend to be afraid of poker. Should poker players be afraid of playing? We shall not be afraid, but respect fear as an element of the game. Nothing more, nothing less.

all the money I won in poker, I won in freerolls which gives the impression that it was free money lol, that gave me a certain courage to risk winning more, of course the big tournaments I played I won the free ticket that helps a little, but when the risk of losing a large amount always scares me in poker or on the stock market

It's not the poker I am afraid of, it's s the variance going against me. I look at it: the less poker games I play, the lower my chances are of losing a lot of games in a row; getting burned out o nplaying.

I'm not afraid of poker. I think that whoever plays it is not afraid of it, otherwise they wouldn't play it. In my case I only play free tournaments so I don't put my money at risk

Well, in the life of every human being there will always be fear, in the case of poker it means losing time and more than all money, but an experienced or non-viccious player knows when to play and when not, I explain myself in my case, I only use extra money or money intended only for playing, I do not use essential money to live as it can be used to pay expenses, rent, food, etc. I only use money for my hobby, which is poker, this mitigates the fear of playing and having a high possibility of losing, always play with extra money, do not use money allocated for your accounts payable.

yes, poker is a little scary especially from the perspective you can lose all your money (and more)
The key is> having a healthy mentality, a strong discipline and gamble just what you afford to lose with a smile on your face.

we are not only afraid of losing money but also of becoming mentally ill due to poker and many other things
because everyone has a certain limit on how much damage can be allowed

I'm not afraid of poker. I'm afraid of the random number generator, especially on the river)

YESSSS <3 great question

BUT I think I have my rules in place properly to keep me safe, and still in the game. I come from a LONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNG line of gamblers. My Nana broke her collar bone in Reno, and did not go to a doctor...she just switched arms and said she would go when she got back to canada....

I was young when this happened and said....oh hell no <3 lol Also put down the delicious salt shakers because of this angel <3

Then I am also Canadian because of a poker game....literally. :p This is on my Papa's side....lol looooong line of gamblers.

So I know I love card games, I know hold em is my favourite......but I have never been to a casino or put money on a game twice. I did 20 bucks once :p lol and I never really let myself indulge in it until Covid and I found CC :p and it took me a few days to get the courage to sign up as well :p but I knew I would be safe :p

Why be afraid?
It's a beautifully, frustrating game that keeps us coming back for more, a challenge that keeps on pushing us and bamboozling us even after all these years.
No fear for me, good BR management takes the gambling out of control element away, its opened doors to meeting some really nice people and one or two less so but hey that's life.

Depende It depends, some plays make me unsure about betting on the right decisions, even knowing that there is a risk of losing.

Embracing those challenges is how we grow. Poker is all about learning from mistakes and improving over time. Managing your bankroll is a huge part of playing smart, and with practice, the confidence to make tough decisions just naturally builds.
Poker can be intimidating, especially for beginners who fear making mistakes or losing money. However, fear is just part of the learning process—every great player has faced it at some point. The key is to focus on strategy, manage your bankroll wisely, and embrace the challenge. The more you play, the more confidence you’ll gain!

When I started playing poker at the beginning, I was afraid of the big tournaments and my style of play was bad. Now that I am over a thousand flops, I am now loosely handling bad situations.

Play for the fact that it's not a pity to lose and then it won't be scary.

Many people, when they hear that I play poker, have the idea that it is dangerous, because it is a game of chance and I can lose my money. But in fact, you should just play wisely, there are free tournaments in which you do not lose anything, but learn to play. You just need to understand what you are dealing with and what you are doing.

Fear we have when we don't know whats happening and whats coming... we downsize it studying and putting volume to gain experience in the game

Many people talk about subjects not formalized by society in a discriminatory way, poker has its dirty image, due to the fact that it is gambling, but there is no mistake in well-planned and dedicated poker.
