In my opinion, no card game compares to poker.

I also used to think that in order to play poker, it is enough to simply learn the combinations. But now you understand - what to study and learn in poker

For some reason, I remember a game called "fool", where you also need to think about your moves, memorize cards and think strategically.

Good afternoon everyone, in my opinion poker is a game as complex as chess. In chess you can find all the pieces and imagine your opponent's plan, but in poker you have missing pieces, such as the villain's cards, the turn and the river. But in my opinion, although both games are very complex, it is much easier to make money in poker than in chess.

I think poker is a unique game, but if I compare which one comes closest, I think it would be chess, which is also a sport of the mind and doesn't depend on luck to win.

In my country there is a card game called 40, it is a typical and popular game in my city Quito-Ecuador, I think it is the closest thing to poker that I know... but it is only played in my country.

Poker has many Variants but the only game I have experienced that comes close to it is 3 Card Brag, But surprisingly in Brag, a 3 card straight beats a 3 Card Flush, but if you think about it, It actually makes sense, To make a straight of 3 consecutive cards you need 3 out of a possible 12 cards, But a Flush can be made from a combination of any 3 cards from a possible 13 Cards (in a suit) So slightly easier.
The thing about Poker is that hand values can change depending on which Variant you play, In Holdem You have to make a 5 Card flush from a possible 13 cards, but in Short Deck Poker you have fewer cards in the deck so a Flush will actually beat a Full House!
Something to be aware of if you intend playing a different Variant.

I don't think poker can really be compared with any game. Someone wrote you can compare
poker to chess? I have played both for over 50 years and although there are comparisons there
is one thing that makes them completely different.
If you are a The best poker player in the world a fish could beat you if the cards run for them
In chess you put a Grandmaster against even an above average player the Grandmaster would win
every time.
Unlike roulette or craps which are complete games of chance, the better a poker player you are the better chance you have
of winning but will often lose.

Poker can be compared to games like chess and bridge. In chess, both games require strategic thinking, pattern recognition, and anticipating an opponent’s moves. However, poker introduces an element of unpredictability with luck, making it even more complex. Bridge also involves strategic partnerships and understanding probabilities, like poker. Both games involve reading the behavior of opponents, calculating risks, and making decisions based on incomplete information, which mirrors the dynamic environment in poker.

You can compare the game of chess and checkers with poker.
I think checkers is too simple a game to compare it to poker. And I don't know of any other card games comparable in complexity to poker, even its simplest form - Texas Hold'em.

I would compare it to the game of chess! Both games require you to strategize, that is, they are mind sports!

Poker is a game of chance and perhaps you can only compare poker with other card games that also involve playing for money. I don't think it would be correct to compare poker to chess or any other board games, even if they are gambling games.

I'm sure there are many games similar to poker where both luck and skill play a role. I used to play Yahtzee, which I think has some similarities. I also enjoy chess. While many people believe there's no luck in chess, I disagree—sometimes you or your opponent miss a move, and in that sense, you can get 'lucky' just like in poker.

When we were young we used to play a card game called Seka, it is similar to Hold'em and just as interesting.

...a card game that vaguely reminds me of poker is whist... a less complex game, but one that involves reading your opponent and some bluffs when necessary.

I think that many card games are similar to poker. Almost all of them have elements of psychology, skill, experience and luck. I mean games in which players play against each other, and in which initially the chances of winning for all players are equal, we do not take into account casino games, there the principle is completely different. My friend once said that poker is compared to chess. Although chess is not a card game, but I think there is something in his words. I like that in poker each subsequent hand is different from the previous one. Playing this game you can constantly learn something new, both in terms of the game itself and in terms of personal development, if the player learns to understand and feel this game.
