I believe that any substance or liquid that can relax you will not help you play poker, but rather push you to a draw.

Drugs are popular in all walks of life, and poker is no different. Live poker players have to take random urine tests. And if you get caught with something, you get banned. Some people get an unfair advantage.

Does it help you in your sessions? Does it relax you? I read opinions.
I think poker is a great game without any additional stimulants. Moreover, if you are interested in money in poker, then most likely alcohol or drugs will prevent you from achieving a good result :)

Of course. I love smoking marijuana while playing poker. It relaxes me, although I once went to bed and smoked a little while playing a tournament and fell asleep.

I don't smoke weed, but I do smoke a lot of cigarettes and I often drink beer while playing. Playing with beer and cigarettes is much more fun than without them, although it is unhealthy and of course it hurts concentration.

Weed and poker can be a controversial combination, as its effects vary depending on the individual. Some players claim that cannabis helps them relax, reduces anxiety, and allows them to focus better during long sessions, especially in low-stress games. Others argue that it can impair judgment, slow reaction times, and lead to careless decision-making, particularly in high-stakes or fast-paced situations. It may also influence emotional stability, making players more prone to tilt or overconfidence. Whether it enhances or hinders performance largely depends on tolerance, mindset, and the ability to stay disciplined while under its influence. Moderation and knowing your limits are key factors when mixing cannabis and poker.

Weed and poker are two things that some people enjoy playing together, but there are several factors to consider

Ben Potential
Relaxation: Many
Increased Focus

Dow Potential
Slower Reaction Time: Cannabis
Increased Risk Taking: The “Chill” Effect of Cannabis
Legal Considerations: Addiction

Ultimately, it’s about finding what works best for you. Some players swear by it, believing it enhances their poker experience, while others prefer to keep their heads down for maximum performance.

I like using it after playing, while replaying hands in my head and considering the how's/why's of my decisions at various points in the action.

I guess depends on the person and their goal, if is a pro playing 30 tables per day or a reg playing one tournament a week, if the goal is to have fun or make a motherload of money, any substance probably will make harder to play but also if the person can play like it was sober probably wont be a problem, i guess every case is a case.
To make serious money, probably joining a team and playing sober and serious is the best path.
Go for the gold.
God bless.

It is true that in poker you should not be addicted to tobacco, it impacts and slows your progress.

In my opinion I don't think this combination is a good idea, I think the same about alcohol and poker. A while ago I read that some High Rollers players used a concentration medication.

I have smoked weed for over 30 years.
For me I prefer not to smoke if I am in a game.
I find that my mind becomes too relaxed and in the slow parts of the game, my concentration levels drop away causing me to not follow my opponents as well as I do normally.
I guess it is different for everyone but I would definitely suggest testing one self by playing in a MTT for an hour or 2 and then having a smoke and take an honest view of how it changes your game.
Overall , no matter the substance, your mind will be altered to the point that you don't make decisions as clearly and as sharply as an unaltered mind.
In essence I am very pro weed but not when my mind needs to be performing at its best.

I do not take anything that could alter my thought processes. Even when playing freerolls, I want to focus and play my best.
