The question whether players are in general getting worse is not so straight forward. Trying to compare poker pros of the past to todays pros is as difficult as trying to compare athletes across generations. Jordan vs. LeBron, Emmitt Smith vs. Gale Sayers, Mickey Mantle vs. Ohtani, Messi vs. Pele, Gretzky vs. Bobby Orr. Perhaps the key is to examine the numbers actually playing today vs. 15 years ago, because the large influx of players will bring the same percentages of good vs. bad players. So, if 15 % were good 30 % were OK and 55 % were poor players in year gone by, that means that by the numbers, there would be more bad players today simply because there are MORE players.
