It's that time of the year when many of us make resolutions for the new year. So let's think about our poker resolutions... And let's think about making them real. I'd love to win the wsop Main Event, but if I don't know how to play a solid tournament, I'm not likely to get that far.

What would you wish for in 2025? Where would you most like to improve? What experience would you like to have?

I'll start: I'd actually like to learn how to play PLO better. I had fun with the variant games here at CardsChat and would love to play more.

What about you?

I'd like to learn how to level the odds, or more specifically win hands where I am favoured to win at approximately the rate that the odds predict. There must be a secret trick that I'm missing. We all complain about this. Our wise friends and colleagues tell us that we're just forgetting the times that the hands do turn out correctly. While their well intended advice is appreciated, I've been doing this for a long time and I'm not forgetting the 'good times'.

I can tell when I'm on a roll, when I'm getting good cards, when they're drawing well and of course when I'm winning.

I can also tell when the opposite is happening, when you go for days or weeks and every time you're 60% - 90% favoured to win, you lose, time and again. It's a real thing. So I'd like to learn the trick to making the odds charts come true.

I would like to do more content. Especially Omaha and 6max cash game content. Then I would like to have a lot of time to play which is very very difficult at the moment.

Also reinvest my winnings in higher games. Not tilt when I play.

That's about it.

Study more, including improving my ability to to study!

I've got the "Art of Learning" by Josh Waitzkin, I intend to read cover to cover and see if I can come up with a more structured approach to my poker study.

My biggest leak is inattention. I check email, facebook, etc., and don't give full attention to the game. This leads to making 'habit' decisions, usually poor, and getting timed out, etc. All of which lead to poor results. The way I will correct these issues are as follows. 1. Make sure I give full attention to the game, If that is not possible, then stay out of the game. 2. Observe the players more keenly, and deciding what to do based on pot odds and less on habit. 3. Play more aggressively by recognizing opportunities to take down pots with raises rather than just passively mucking the hand. This aggressiveness also includes mucking good and even strong hands if the situation says to. 4. Spend 1-2 hours a day studying how to correct weak parts of my game.

I agree a lot with @hobojim1247, definitely need to focus more on the game when I am playing. I have also paid for a course previously that I need to get back to. December is my do nothing month. January it's time to refocus. I would also like to practice Stud H/L and Omaha more. Maybe we can get the Variants League back up and running.

For a while now, I never decide on any resolutions since the most important part is the commitment to them, which is often not that easy. But as far as poker is concerned, I'm really planning on studying more and play more MTT variants.

There are area's in my poker game i will make a New Years Resolution to. #1. Quit thinking about my bankroll instead of my hand and whats happening At the table when making tough decisions. #2. Keep my cool when playing against a wildly aggressive player. Dont think about revenge or paybacks, just keep cool and keep my concentration focused. # 3. Finish the 30 day poker course here at CC. I'm sure theres more things i could resolute to but those are the most important.
