It wouldn't surprise me if I was informed that close to 1/2 the players in the wsop sell a % of their buyin.

Lots of players online play with a backer.

110% never. With the history poker players have of scamming, stealing and never paying the money they owe back. Loan them money? F**K NO. I trust 3-4 people total in the whole world with my money NONE of them poker players. Correction only one of them is a poker player ME lol.

With that said I will stake certain players long as a 3rd party is in complete 100% control of the transaction 110% from start to finish so I know I'm getting my money if player cashes. Example the staking offered on GG poker. Wish pokerstars offered a staking option like GG has.

I really had a bad experience with him after some months of friendship here. He is the reason why I am broke upto now. He disappeared without paying the $600+ we agreed he will pay after winning one of the tournaments at pokerstars.

Helping is good. But you have to help in your own capacity not beyond that. Don't expect a return. This is what I learnt.

You always have to think about how long it would take them to pay off the loan given their current financial situation if the loan goes belly up. If they never have a shot at paying you back while maintaining a standard of living ... don't give the loan.

Best way to get rid of someone you don’t like is to loan them money they can’t pay back. The amount is what you think that is worth!

I have staked before - there's a difference there and it tends to be only if the player is good enough in my opinion to do so, lending money to friends for me is a tough one, i have done this and would still do this but they would have to be a close pal and able to repay this.
