Day 0: 100% ($150)
Day 6: 280% ($420)
Day 7: 329% ($493)
Day 8: 426% ($624)
Day 9: 463% ($695)
Day 10: 544% ($812)
Day 11: 572% ($858)

Just had enough time for two SNG's. Won a $22+$2 turbo for $99 and bubbled out of a $30+$3 when my straight ran into a river flush. Didn't bet the turn hard enough and that's what I got. Regardless, I haven't had a negative day in over a week so that's something to be pleased about.

I am back in the swing of things...FINALLY...and deposited $50 to start with on PS. I know...i know...this is a low amount of starting $$, but I will be putting in ~$50 every couple of weeks until I get a decent bankroll ($500 - $1000)....this will give me a chance to actually earn some $$ (or lose, depending on play) and not just throw in $1000 at one time. Anyways, here are my stats:

Day 0: (100%) $50 - deposited $50 to PS via MoneyGram (which is excellent btw)
Day 1: (106.34%) $53.17 - ~400 hands
Day 2: (113.52%) $56.76 - ~250 hands
Day 3: (120.82%) $60.41 - ~170 hands
Day 4: (99.56%) $49.78 - ~80 hands - lost $4.63 + ~$6.00 lost in SnG's... I seem to not be that great at these, so if anyone can give me any pointers...that would be great (*willing to send in HHF for anyone interested*) I seem to make most of my money in ring games and then lose some in SnG's / tournies all the time.
Day 5: (141.50%) $70.75 - ~430 hands
Day 6: (150.04%) $75.02 - ~89 hands

There is where I currently stand. I just downloaded Poker Tracker 3 and was wondering if anyone has tried it and if so....what do you think of it?

Progress Report

Start date: February 18, 2008
Start amount: $50.00
playing: 25c/50c limit HE with some cheap MTTs

Day 0: 100%
Day 1: 44.16%
Day 2: 78.66%

Comments: This is on Betfred, which I find plays a lot like a bricks and mortar poker room and has good traffic in its limit games at most hours of the day. Like most of my opponents I've been playing tight but the first day was just a bad downswing, with few hands coming in and the ones that did getting drawn out. The low BR-to-BB ratio is largely responsible for the crazy swings in percentage. Call it by-the-hair-on-your-butt bankroll management. :D

Now. ill start posting my progress. I started my bankroll from scratch so it wouldnt a lot of sense to put it as a starting point. Instead ill asume that my starting point in this thread is Feb 1 2007 where my bank stands at roughly 6394. So here goes my first progress report. I have played almost every day in February but havent been able to play as much as I would like, because i have a lot going on in college right now. I always play 100NL with the occasional mtt or sng thrown into the mix.

Day 1 100% 6,394.86
Day 2 101% 6,441.86
Day 3 99% 6,337.10

Day 5 102% 6,553.19
Day 6 101% 6,440.81
Day 7 105% 6,686.35
Day 8 107% 6,828.21
Day 9 109% 6,943.21
Day 10 105% 6,700.21

Noticed some inactivity around here, thought I'd pick things back up

Day 0: 100% ($150)
Day 6: 280% ($420)
Day 7: 329% ($493)
Day 8: 426% ($624)
Day 9: 463% ($695)
Day 10: 544% ($812)
Day 11: 572% ($858)
Day 12: 614% ($924)
Day 13: 517% ($778)
Day 14: 613% ($920)
Day 15: 670% ($1005)

Pretty solid day. Didn't play all that much but 4-tabled a SNG session, winning a $30+$3 and a $20+$2 for a decent yield. Everything else I either bubbled on or busted out earlier with typically the better hand. Hopefully I can hit the 1000% mark here in the next few weeks before I head down to Panama City Beach for spring break :D.

Nice to see many of your bankrolls moving in the right direction. Mine isn't nearly as impressive, but what the heck, this looks like fun so I'll play too.

I made my first deposit ($25) in Dec '07, lost much of it playing SNGs and micro stake ring NL (was actually down to $3). Finally began to turn it around in Jan '08 and now sit at $43 (woohoo!), so let's make this amount day 1. I know it's shy of Chris_TC's minimum, but I don't want to wait until I hit $50.

Day 1: 100% ($43)

I play micro stake ($1+.20) SNG's most of the time, but occasionally play the micro stakes ring games. I find my ring game sucks as opposed to my SNG game.

GL Marco. Hang with it and play at the right stakes for long enough and you'll move up if your play is smart and consistent.

Look familiar? Trip 7's were not good to me today. Should I have played any of these hands differently?

Well if you think somebody is on a draw (and they like to call anything), you can always overbet the pot to try and get them out. But if you are playing low limit MTT/SnGs there will be terrible players that will call anything totally regardless of pot odds, until the river where they will fold if you bet and they missed. HOWEVER, although you may get the odd bad beat from these ppl in the long run you will make a huge amount from them.

That being said, you should have folded the first hand instead of calling his all in. He is showing absolutely no agression...pretty obvious that he hasn't hit any part of the flop so he is on a straight or flush draw. River could have given him a flush or a straight and a player who is flat calling you like that is highly unlikely to go all in on the river with squat, since he knows you have a hand.

2nd hand you played alright. That was a pretty bad beat not much you can do about it.

Thanks, feitr. I know I should have folded the first one, but I had seen him shove twice prior to, but in the same orbit as, this hand so that helped convince me. To be honest, I was way more concerned about the flush. I hadn't even considered 10 8 for the straight. Oh well, lesson learned.

Haven't posted in here since I said I was going to build a bankroll, mainly because I was embarrassed about my awful losing streak. I started with $100 and was down to $78 after 4 or 5 days. Anyway, I've now clawed it back and feel very positive about my play. Only been playing $2 S&Gs so I feel I've done quite well to recover my early losses. So here's how it looks now:

Day 1 $100
Day 6 $78.20
Day 7 $87.75
Day 8 $90.60
Day 9 $101.10

I only started keeping track when I started to win money again :D From now on I'm going to record my bankroll status every day, though, even when I don't turn a profit. Otherwise there's no point, really.

Day 3 has proven more successful than day 2. I played 4 $1 +.20 SNG's, finished 2nd twice, 3rd once, and busted out of the 4th in 5th place. I also had a ticket to a private freeroll that my bro-in-law got from a recent Maple Leaf game he went to. 313 people, 82 paid, I finished 5th for $8. I wouldn't have wasted my time with this one but 1st place was a buy in to the Sunday Million ($215) which would have been nice. Anyway, here's how the day ended:

Day 1: 100% ($43)
Day 2: 100% ($43, $42.99 to be exact)
Day 3: 120% ($51.59)

On to day 4...

Graph shows how bad my play has been lately. I can't seem to find a problem with my play. I may have to take a break and study or change to another game or site. Sucks.

Just so you guys know, I haven't disappeared. I'm still posting on the site as I'm sure you know, but I'm not playing much poker at the moment as I'm trying to plug some leaks and establish just why and how this d/schwing snowballed.

At the moment I'm reading a lot of stuff and playing very small sample of hands just to try a few thing out. Hopefully I'll be able to start posting again on this thread when I feel comfortable to do so. This is what d/s are all about. We tackle these things differently. I could just carry on losing BI after BI until I either go bust or it turns around, (believe me I've lost a shit load of BI's). But I'm just not gonna risk anymore of my roll until I fell 100% comfortable with what I've learnt. GL all.

Progress Update

Day 106: 259% ($5,174)
Day 109: 297% ($5,942)
Day 110: 266% ($5,327)

Well, on the first day of wanting to play more hands, I ended up with the grand total of 700 hands. That's just over one fourth the amount I'm shooting for, so things can only improve from here *sigh*

Today, I lost quite a bit of money to a huge fish. It was really quite peculiar, so here's a quick story. He started with $120, his VPIP was around 50%, we will call him Nemo.

11:13 pm: Nemo limps from EP, I raise AK, he calls. The flop comes AQQ, he checks, I bet, he calls. The turn it comes a blank, he checks, I put him all-in for less than half the pot. He turns over Q3 suited.
$120 --> $250.

11:18 pm: Nemo limps from EP, I limp on the button with 78s. I flop top two pair on a two-flush board. He bets half the pot, I raise, he calls. The turn it comes an offsuit Jack, he bets, I raise, he pushes, I call. Nemo has 9To.
$230 --> $470.

11:24 pm: The pot is a 5-way limped pot. I complete in the SB with J6o. I flop top two pair on a J56 rainbow board. First to act, I bet 3/4 pot, two players fold, Nemo calls, one player pushes for $77. I call, hoping Nemo would come along with a weak Jack, and indeed he does (only he doesn't have a weak Jack).
The turn is a King, I bet just over half of Nemo's stack, he calls. The river is a 3, I put him all-in, he calls. He has 74o.
$350 --> $800.

11:25 pm: Nemo sits out.

I hope you liked the story :D

that would tilt me so bad

just for my 2 cents worth. as most fish are incapable of folding any half hand or potential hand. you can not really limp any hand, that you wouldnt call in mid position.

Anyways, i deposited $50 about a week ago now, am currently at about $240. i plan to enter data into a spread sheet with my total balance at each 30 mins of play and keep it on a rolling basis.

I have deposited $50 before, got to around $100+, hit a bad beat, usually a fish hitting his 8 high flush draw (why are fish incapable of folding a flush draw??????), and then setting me on tilt - playing STT heads up - at which i am rubbish. then spewing off the rest of my bank roll.

anyway, i digress. next target is $300 (no time scale to reach it)

when should i move up stakes? i currently play 10c 20c NL. im thinking at $400 or $500...

I guess its time for an update. I had a good run in February, winning almost 2k in just about about 30k hands. I had a really rough day on day 23, losing almost 5 buyins as nothing seemed to work. Other than i had a pretty consistent month.

Day 19 123% 7,839.19
Day 20 125% 7,969.36
Day 21 125% 7,967.36
Day 22 122% 7,811.36
Day 23 115% 7,327.36
Day 24 117% 7,508.36

Well starting from 10$ free "sign up bonus" coz i want to see how far i can get without actually having to deposit.

Day -5: 10$
Day -4: 25$
Day-3: 15$ (got pretty pissed and actually played in a 5$ SnG (GOOD br management there)...then didn't play for a few days afterwards)
Day-2: 30$
Day-1: 40$ (haven't really played more than 2 hrs a day yet so things going very slowly)
Day1: 50$ 100% --started playing .1/.2 limits
Day2: 60$ 120%
Day3:80$ 160%
Day4:100$ 200%
Day5:105$ ~210% --interesting day...for some IDIOTIC reason i decided to play some .25/.5 limit. I lost one buy in pretty quickly then was half way down on another (and topped it up). Was then down about 20% on 2 tables so i was down to about 80$...but luckily i hit a couple hands and managed to double up a couple of tables pretty quickly and ended up about 5$ up. So I just left and vowed to never touch them until i hit 200$, because i could have potentially lost half my BR.
Day6:135$ ~260% (weird day...i played 2 tables while doing school for about 20 mins and made 30$. I think i got kings on one table and managed to slightly over double up. Since i was only buying in for 6$ that put me about 14$. I then was in BB and had 89s or something where i called somebodies min raise. I hit a set of 8s on the flop and decide to slow play since this guy was superagressive and the flop wasn't dangerous. So i double up again and ended up 6$-->30$ in about 5 hands...
Day7:150$ 300%
Day8:165$ (played a 3$ rebuy...only thing it taught me was to never waste money doing that again)
Day9: 195$ ---Up to present time now...VERY interesting day. I started off very good. However, i then decided to play in a 5$ MTT (coz i had plaeyd a couple of 1$ ones and was getting top 50 most times for 4/5$ for 2-3 hrs ie. complete waste of time). So ofc i bust out pretty earlier and for some reason all hell opens loose after that. I was playing some games after that coz i wanted to reach 200$ before the end of the day (was at about 183$ after the MTT "decision". So everything starts going wrong and i start to tilt really badly (for the first time i would say as well as i've only been playing online (or any) poker for about a month now). And although i knew it i didn't really care...EVERYTHING seemed to be going wrong. I would correctly put a guy on a flush draw and overbet the pot with top pair but ofc he would call and hit the flush on the turn (once) and river (once...who calls a pot bet for a flush draw on the river :S). I ACTUALLY TYPE TO HIM "i know you have flush but i don't give a %*& atm coz i can't believe you called my bet" and then call his bet and lose most of my stack. It would just piss me off that i woudl have the BB raising me in the SB or something, but then when i raised with KK it would fold around to me. I could hardly pick anything up post flop after raising preflop coz i would have guys out of position raising hard or all in etc and then when i decided to limp into some pots everytime some idiot would raise it like 6xBB. So anyways, eventually somebody raises me in the SB after i raised him in the BB with A7, so even tho i figure im probably beat i go all in and he calls...with AK ofc. However, the first piece of luck of the day has me suck out to win. So i leave the table, then look at my BR (figuring that doubling up there must put me in ok stead), but realise that IF i had lost that pot i would have been about 160$ i think (ie. lost about 25$ (and 1/7 BR) in 45 minutes). So that actually calmed me down for some reason, and i started to play better. I had to hit 2 pretty big hands, but i managed to get 5$ up on when i started so instantly closed everything and stopped playing...realising how lucky i was not to be a few days back)

I think tilting will potentially be a big problem for me...i played some RTS games at a high level and i would have the same problem there. I would actually get MOTIVATED by losing...it would make me want to play more and care less. So with games that would mean i would win like 85% of games then one day in the month i would play way more games than any other day and win like 20%. So with poker, when i've had bad sessions i keep playing until i make it back...but im a little worried what will happen if i simply have a terrible day where nothing at all is going right and if i keep playing trying to make it back i will probably end up losing ALOT.

I was going to move up to .25/.5 once i hit 200$, but now i think i will stick at .1/.2 until at least 300$ (i might have only played 500 hands @ .1/.2 so far) and start to buy in for less than 5%. Idk..will have to see how it goes. Im going to have to find some way that i can stop playnig when i am playing bad...because as it stands i tend to play more when i'm losing and i tend to quit early when im having a very good day (don't want to mess it up or something equally as illogical).

Well apparantly i can't edit...

So i couldn't resist trying for the extra 5$ to make 200$...and it was as big a disaster as it was bound to be; however, i didn't manage to get a little lucky this time. The pinnacle was losing 20$ in KK vs AA. So i was down to 153$, but decided to play a little more and manage to get back to 175$ where i called it quits. Pretty disapointing as i played about 4 hrs in the end (prob my biggest session) to lose 20$. But i guess that is life...should learn the lesson to not play when im having a bad day. I guess ALL UP for today im actually + 10...however i actually feel sick at some of buy ins i threw away. The 20$ loss AA vs KK was just sick..as i shouldn't have had that much in there in the first place but the rings where fairly inactive and i had to buy back in at what i left with...
