Maybe, but it's difficult and not permanent, I'd rather spend my time on something else.

Is it possible to earn a living at poker? Of course it is for those who have studied and played to gain experience. It is something that also requires luck, and because of this and the frequent ups and downs, the right temperament is essential. I have been in sales as a real estate agent and a stockbroker...both can provide large paydays, but it was difficult for me to handle making $5000 one month (in the early 80s), then absolutely nothing the next three months. A career in poker would be similar. There are players making a great living, but the stress of dealing with the "DRY" months make it a tough life to handle.

Perhaps only a small percentage of even experienced players can earn a living from poker, but mostly it's just a small part-time job.

Many players dream of playing poker professionally, but variance and mindset are big factors. Do you think it’s sustainable in the long run?
Poker as a source of additional income - YES.
Poker as a source of main income - NO.
In my opinion, poker is not the most reliable source of income, so it is not very safe to count on such income. Your skills and experience will always be with you, but the luck factor is also extremely important. In addition, laws change in every country and if today poker is legal, tomorrow this game may be illegal.

You probably won't get rich playing poker.Poker simply doesn't fit the requirements of a "healthy economy." That's because poker is a zero-value-added game, because you don't produce anything. So for you to win, someone else has to lose, and vice versa. The vast majority of people will lose their money because the exchange will charge a fee and only a select few will be able to stay in the black in the long term.

If you have a lot of free time to study poker and know how to play well, you can make money. I have friends who make money that way.

Well, long time short, it is possible. I suggest joining a Poker Team who has a school or elementary level! You will then be able to have classes with experienced players while playing with Team's money.

Believe me, I have friends who are 4 - 5 years professionals who still plays for teams sharing their profits.

It is possible, but very difficult. It requires a lot of discipline. You must have enough savings to support yourself for 6 months without relying on Poker. You must have a reasonable enough bankroll to be able to play higher stakes. You must set aside at least 6 hours of quality time for Poker per day, of which more than half should be dedicated to studying the game and reviewing hands. And most importantly, you must set a daily winning goal. And you must have the discipline to quit the game on a bad day and not be greedy on good days. Poker is cruel to those who don't know when to stop... Whether it's on a good day or a bad day.
or, you can join a poker team

I think that poker is too dependent on our luck and therefore poker cannot be a reliable source of income. Hoping that I'll be lucky enough to pay the bills this month is very naive :)
I wouldn't rely on the game alone, you need other ways to make money.

A lot depends on the amount of money you spend per month on food and on your housing. If you can cover these payments only with the money you earned from poker, it is still not enough :ROFLMAO:, as you have other needs anyway (for example, buying appliances). ;)

I think it's definitely possible to make a living from poker, but it requires a lot of discipline, solid bankroll management, and constant learning. The road can be tough, especially in the beginning, but with dedication, it's achievable.

Yes, it's possible, but it will be fraught with many unpleasant and pleasant surprises.
Overall, it will require a lot of discretion, determination, hard work, and taking poker skills and strategies seriously.
Good luck:)

If you have very deep pockets and are Top Brass, then maybe. Otherwise no. For 99,99% it’s probably not sustainable and realistic.

It's very relative to live, it all depends on how much you consider enough, there are people who $300 is enough, for others $2,000 is not.
It will depend on the country where the person lives, and the salary they receive

Yeah, it’s possible but brutal—you need insane discipline, a big bankroll, and nerves of steel.

Possible yes . But gor the few . Especially when we are talking about having poker as the only way to earn the living , to become a very successful reg or even a pro , that's hard , much less possible than become just a low stakes reg with some successes , just to have one more way to earn more money but nothing more . At least online . Live poker is different from online .

Definitely, but you would need to dedicate your life to it.

In brazil, we have some very good and known players which are proving that this is possible, like Yuri Dzivielevski, for example!
