In our online and offline world, you will likely have discovered that Artificial Intelligence is everywhere!

So, how do you think artificial intelligence will impact the future of poker? Or has it already impacted poker?

Please share your thoughts!

Artificial intelligence isn't really intelligence. The most likely type you are likely to find on-line are Large Language Models. The only A.I. program I have used to date is one to remove background noise from videos. It is imperfect to put it mildly. Regarding poker, I think anyone who uses it will be sorely disappointed because it if works on a purely mathematical model, it will be no better and very likely worse than humans, and that is saying something.

In particular I think it would be no use when it comes to bluffing especially calling bluffs. This can involve psychology, reverse psychology, or simply caprice. Good luck with that one, Mr Robot.

The most interesting thing is that sometimes it will be difficult to distinguish what is natural, real and what is artificial.

It is already almost certain that artificial intelligence can replace a real person!

I think that over time, artificial intelligence will be gradually introduced into all areas of our lives, including online entertainment. I think artificial intelligence can make the game safer and maybe even fairer. I think that all these new modern technologies have the potential to improve our lives and I hope that it will :)

Let's start with AI as we know it today in language models: it can be really helpful with sifting through a lot of information and summarizing it, or otherwise organizing data in a way that's more digestible to its users. That's great for humans that are wanting to learn about poker but perhaps don't absorb information as well in one format versus another. AI can help arrange information in ways that are easier to absorb. For example, AI has recently been featured in generating podcasts that are easy to listen to (and pretty funny sometimes depending on the topic).

Future AI, which would go beyond language models and feature autonomous reasoning, would likely lead to more opportunities for online poker sites to put AI players vs. human players, particularly in formats that aren't winnable over the long run, where the house is the big winner through rake. If AI can simulate human play, then there would not really be any detectable difference between human vs. human and AI vs. human play (or AI vs. AI). Rake and fees are still paid and the poker site pockets the money.

Maybe live poker will still be safe, as long as we can somehow avoid brain implants and AI controlled vibrating beads/plugs?

Artificial Intelligence will only be able to help me with tournament related questions. An example of a query is: “Is it enough for me to triple up in the Sunday Million at blind level 5 with a stack of 50 big blinds to get into the prize zone?”. I think that globally Artificial Intelligence will not affect online poker in any way, as it is a game between live humans, not robots.

AI to me is scary we do not know where its headed and is little to no regulations....as things speed up technology there needs to be rules...I do think we will have issues...Right now AI is used for ads more then anything else...Might in future be used on credit other things...is a lot of evil bad people...I dont trust the companies black rock etc...since dont know enough about what they truly want with the future...so its concerning....as far as poker am unsure dont see a lot of change for awhile in poker because simply is too much other things ahead of it...will take an elon musk of poker to make changes imo not sure who or when they step up :)

With so much speculation now with Bots in certain poker sites ruining the experience and pretty much defrauding people out of money this just makes it worse. Increase AI and online innovation is going to make for less human play online. That’s just my opinion though. I will stick to my home games where bots are not allowed !

I think it will happen and I suspect it will go undetected if it is good enough

It will have and already had a significant impact on poker, both in terms of improving strategies for players and in the development of artificial intelligence systems that can compete at the highest levels of the game (against each other).

Will be definitely interesting to see what the future will bring.

The answer to this is the same as the to the question one can here sometimes as a joke.
What was the impact of French revolution to global economy? The answer - too early to tell.

But there has been a rise of new kind of training tools where AI is built in so one can tackle one's leaks more efficiently, or so I hope.

I think AI will impact online poker more than we can imagine.
Sites like GTO Wizard will be the norm with AI.
On live poker the one impact of AI may be the way that players prepare for their tournamnets.

AI is going to destroy the integrity of online poker, as it is being trained to act like a human, so it is going to go nearly unnoticed and poker rooms will benefit the most out of this. More rake is going to be generated which will favor the house, and even the house can come up with ai bots to play against humans, who knows!

AI is indeed all over already and gaining "yards" at tremendous (Even scary) speed everywhere, and poker is no exception.

I think poker sites will be (If they haven't already) the 1st to take advantage of its capabilities considering the huge amount of money they're generating. I just hope it'll be in terms of security and integrity.
As to the game play, AI can only be a champion in the use of GTO, which will never beat us "Fish", so I don't think poker should be worried.
Besides, we'll always have live games anyway.

I see that some people in the thread are using semantics to call all AI LLM (or chatbots). All LLM are AI BUT all AI is of course NOT LLM.

AI is a much larger umbrella of "machine intelligence" and computer programs and BOTS and RTA in the form of solvers and GTO programs are usually included.

Bots have been beating the population up to 400NL for well over 10 years so online poker is deader than a dodo.

Here are some links to an official pro-level bot 5 years ago!!!o_O:eek:

And here is where we are today:

A GTO bot will never lose against you - but other players may be able to exploit your unbalanced play more.

Advanced bots can play exploitive poker and also adapt.

IA is on everything in the internet, so we need to make tools to keep the sites of póker out of the influence of IA, because other player can use to gain leverage.

There is no doubt that in the near future, artificial intelligence will be integrated into online poker and, in fact, this technology will replace part of the service staff. This will allow sites to spend less money on employees and get more profit. I hope this will have a positive impact on freerolls and there will be more of them.

I think sadly it will eventually kill online poker, everyone will have to move over to live poker only. However on the good side, I don't think it will happen for 50 years or so.

In the spirit of this question, I used humor Grok to answer. If you dont want to give me the ten chips, I'm ok with it. Just thought this was pretty funny.

  • AI Poker Prodigies: AI will become the new poker hotshots, bluffing with the emotional range of a toaster.
  • Coach AI: Your new poker buddy will be an AI that critiques your moves faster than your mother-in-law at a family dinner.
  • Cheat Detector: AI will sniff out cheaters like a dog at a barbecue, ensuring the only thing getting "stacked" is your chips, not the deck.
  • Poker Evolution: AI might invent games like "Poker 2.0" where cards change suits based on your emotional state.
  • Lonely Hearts Poker Club: You might end up playing against an AI with more personality than your ex, complete with digital banter.
  • Casino Psychics: Casinos could predict your betting habits better than a fortune cookie, offering you "lucky" drinks when you're about to go on a losing streak.
So, poker's future might be a mix of high-tech strategy and keeping up with silicon-based wits, but hey, at least you'll never be short of a poker face to read.

Cheers, hope you had a laugh.

I think that artificial intelligence in poker is needed only for a beginner or a player who is not able to turn on his own natural intelligence. But a thinking experienced player does not need artificial intelligence.

Let's switch to a personal video presence))) Don't scratch yourself, don't dig your nose... First, we'll strictly monitor our appearance, and then masks and goggles will come in))) Then appearance and voice enhancers will connect))))

If there are now a lot of players cheating, with artificial intelligence it will get worse, it will no longer be safe to play online.

I think there is a large risk that live assistance with AI destroys online poker. The technology is already there and sites currently have a hard time catching bots, colluders, and multi-entry cheats.
