betting lingo

I assume that since the small blind is in, and the big blind is a min raise over the small blind then a limper is jst that, and a min raise or more becomes a 3 bet, and if someone else raises the 3 bettor, that becomes a four bet and so on, and it in fact has nothing to do with the size limit other than it must be a legitimate raise. Would that be correct?
