If it were solely up to me, obviously I would love for it to be my job. But there are several issues. First, I want to clarify that I'm nowhere near being able to consider that yet; I'm just starting to make some progress in freeroll tournaments. But even if I were at a higher level, there would be several concerns that would worry me.
Firstly, unless you have a sponsor, it would be very risky to make a living from this. If I were to consider dedicating myself fully to poker, I would do it as a secondary pursuit. I'd have a job to sustain myself, and whatever surplus I have, I'd invest it in poker.
Secondly, I believe it would be very psychologically challenging to depend on your results, especially when you're not well-off. I would be concerned about never being able to relax.
