I don't consider poker a sport! Poker is a game, and it can be classified as an intellectual game, but not a sport! It's always a load for me, so I don't count poker as a sport! This is my personal opinion! Good luck at the tables!

For me, Poker is NOT a sport, but more and more it looks like one. Players invest every time in training their strategies, their minds, and how to handle frustration, they use psychologists and technology to be better every day. That of course is my opinion only. Greetings

A player with skill will have better results over time. This is why I consider it a mental sport

I live in Ukraine and here, at the legislative level, tournament poker is defined as a sport. And since I am a law-abiding citizen, I will not argue with this statement !!!

In my opinion, poker is not a sport. Although I'm convinced that poker skills are always more important than luck, in the long run.

It's a game. Much the same as chess.
It requires skill.

The only physical activity required is the ability to remain alert and awake for those long sessions .
Which is not easy sometimes

For me poker is a mental sport that mixes technique, strategy and luck. Without a good preparation and study of good strategies it is very difficult to win in poker just with luck. But luck is also critical to success in poker.

As much as I think about it, poker is a sport for some, it's not a sport for others . Those who do not look through the opponents, but play on luck and on the top card for them, this is not a sport

My answer would be 'No', as the factor of luck plays too much of a role. More often than not not the most talented player wins the prize but rather the luckiest one.

Statistics its not luck, in a long term the mathematics always win. So i consider poker a sport.

I don't consider it a sport, but I really don't care how others refer to it.

Does that mean it only qualifies as a sport in the long run? Because at one day, you could be on your top game and still lose money, whereas a much weaker player is raking in all his ill-deserved pots. You don't see such an insane variance in other sports, but in gambling activities it's very common.

I think in long term, for overall long term winners and pros, it's definitely a sport. And to become one the approach to the game should be similar - treat it like a sport.

In which sport you see someone called that plays awsome just one day, and not at long term?

None, but in Poker you happen to see many of such bad/good streaks. And that's my point: If Poker would be a sport, the factor of luck would be negligible.
The best poker player in the world can theoretically lose against a donkey like me, if luck weren't on his side. And luck can't be acquired, it's not even a natural force. It's capricious and unpredictable, and that's something you don't see in events where athletes compete.

Mental yes!

Indeed, there is the luck factor.

And without it, not even the most skilled wins.

But in the long run, only the skill exists.

No, IMO it's a game. Can't really see poker headlining the Olympics any time soon :D

First of all, poker is a game.
Of course, the factor of luck is present in absolutely all sports, but in poker, especially in a short distance (one tournament or series of tournaments), luck decides a lot, if not everything

I don't see it as a sport. You may be athletic but you don't need to be an athlete to compete at the highest levels. Still nice though when you finish deep or win, you definitely feel like your in a sport
