One i way i got out of being so tight was playing flop hitters or hole cards that you would not be put on having. if you hit the flop with these and play it straight up then you may get called by a middle pair or so on. i only do this when the blinds allow. make sure it doesnt cost much but it could help if you hit the flop ur gonna build a bigger stack so you can be tighter later on.

I'm just a donk.

I play loose/weak/stupid

I never raise and will call to the river with bottom pair or ace high. I can't understand why I keep loosing. It should be a sound stategy.

I love to sit back early and wait for someone to bet into me, ill double the blinds with aces and wait for a donk to bet , nowadays with the young guns like myself it is hard to bluff with top pair if you know what i mean.... but once i get chips i could have a ball cap and a 2 and would all in in a heart beat on pot that seems weak or controlable

Are you tight? aggressive?

I'm very tight, I notice I last longer in tournaments if I play tight but sometimes that messes me up because I end up being the short stack towards the end.

My problem is I never bluff, I notice if I even try someone always comes over the top forcing me to fold.

Any tips on how to play tight but still stay in the game?

Pick up Theory of Poker and give it a read. You will find that those who NEVER bluff are losing money.

I'll say semi-aggressive

;) I have to say semi-aggressive, although in poker you have to understand that you have to adjust your game according to the table you draw or sit at in a ring game,i.e i always fold numerous hands at the begginning of play in tourney or ring just to get a read on the type of style of each player, and then step it up after i've established what i wanted to do, but remember never show your opponent your true strategy always stay low-keel and just when they think they have you show them something else, i mean poker's a psychological game so you always need to be focused at table;) ( Note: live games have totally different circumstances than online)

Situation Dependency

I'm just a donk.

LMAO @ this ^^^^^. It depends on the situation, both playing tight & playing aggressive depends on what you're playing & how far along in the playing you are. I'm usually aggressive when i have a weak stack or it's late in the tourney/sng. I'm tight early on. It all depends on the situation.

Back in "LBCC days" (Life Before CardsChat :D ) I THOUGHT I was "TAG"...only to find out I was missing quite a bit of "AG" ...min-raising, folding draws to easily, under betting PF, never going "over the top" and just flat calling re-raises....a chart of my bankroll would show a very shallow staircase downward toward zero....three $50 deposits whittled to zero after months of play on each...made "one last" deposit of $25 bucks and soon it was whittled down to just under $2...but with many, many thanks to all the great folks & articles here I have turned my bankroll graph around...slow and steady progress I briefly crested 20% of total deposits last night and see no reason for it to stop climbing.

Again a BIG
THANK YOU!!!
to all the great folks here who have taught me alot!!

Still playing mostly tourneys, I start TAG, actually I start in stop. I try not to play any hand before the 3rd level. AA is hard to pass up on though. As the table tames itself down, I start opening up. If sucessful, with a bigger stack I get a bit LAG. If I get a really big stack, I get maniac for a round or till I have donked off too many chips. Then I jam it back into stop, till I untilt. Then I get back into it by starting as if it were fresh.

Lately I have been experimenting in the FT wsop sng freerolls with stretches of devoted playing as Manic, or LAG. Knowing these would not be sucessfull long range stategies. I have learned a lot about many things by doing this. I treat these as exercises. What I think, and hope I am learning is how to control my execcution at all points of play. The goal being an internalized understanding of not only how I can play, but how others will generally react. As an added bonus, this usually helps me with my short stacked strategies. ;)

Plus at times playing LAG and Maniac are just more fun........

Then I go back and sit through any hour of the Holecards Revealed vids and start back at the TAG/stopped phaze.

I used to think I was TAG, but, like Pete didn't really have much of the 'AG'.

I'm better now........

Anyone care to share aggression stats from PT? I am assuming that you can be too aggressive? If so, what are those numbers?

Number of hands: 6,465 (4,693 pot limit, the rest NL)
Preflop: 1.75 (preflop raise %: 18.90, vp$ip 28.3%)
Post Flop Aggression numbers:
Flop: 6.60
Turn: 3.43
River: 2.20
Total (including preflop): 2.72

I'm super tight in the beginning of a tournament. I try to only play quality. Once I get a nice stack going I start to be a bit more liberal.

Not sure if this is helpful but...

My problem is I never bluff, I notice if I even try someone always comes over the top forcing me to fold.

Any tips on how to play tight but still stay in the game?

I used to be a very tight player and then a light went on ... any two cards can win.... So if you sitting waiting for a premium hand you could be waiting a long time while others capitalize with their 8'sand9's.

My philosphy is to try to see the flop as cheaply as possible if i got nothing and to keep others from seeing the flop if I have good cards.

And Dude you gotta learn to bluff ... if I smell weakness I come down quick and hard. Statiscially speaking, if you don't employ strategy then the best you can hope for is to come out even, if that.

and I am the opposite

I play the opposite. When blinds are low I try to see as many flops as possible, it's later in the game that I tighten up. When blinds are high it's usually "all in" or fold.

I'm a bit of both... I'll play tight at first, only show solid hands for a while, especially in a MTT. Then, I'll shove in on a middling 99 AJo, etc., and usually don't get any callers...
Or I'll show a bluff early and "brag" about it on the chat section. Let the rest of the table think I'm a total idiot (which, time may prove I am) then play tighter because enough players want to "beat" me, and play me as opposed to their cards :)
