I found this very helpful. I'm new to poker and my boyfriend says I'm a very tight player and not to change the way play. I've went on tilt a few times but I usually lose my chips when I do, it sucks.
I'll know better in future.

I'm glad this thread has stood the time test. I've been playing almost 2 years and never used to have a problem with tilt. In the beginning I was probably creating it. Then I just understood they were like I used to be, before learning every thing I could about the game. Then moving from $1 to $2 SnG's was still fine. But then when I went to $5 games, for some reason I just could not tolerate bad calls. I freerolled my way to over $120 and now bad play was taking bigger chunks faster, I dropped back to $2 games and still kept loosing, I went from 15%ROI and 44%ITM back to my original freeroll stack in 1 mo. I felt like the site decided that I had won enough and now it was time to give back. If I had trips, someone flopped higher trips, it wasn't all bad players, it was good hands getting beat by better hands. 2 pair getting beat by high pair on runner runner cards that gave them the Flush, etc. It wasn't even about knowing when to fold, I usually had my money in with the best hand, and it wasn't always my agression.
My last game, with pocket A-A UTG+1 I gave my standard 3x raise got 1 caller, and a reraise, that I pushed all-in to isolate. he called for most of his stack with 5-3o and hit 2 pair. Thats when I finally understood FULL TILT.
Now the strange thing was during this time with SnG's I was more than making up for my losses on other sites in tournaments.
These were mostly forum games, good chat, and enjoyable games.
I had forgotten why I started playing ! I enjoyed the game, the competition, the interaction. But the SnG's were with unknowns, and I seemed to be doing well and decided to see how much I could win, by moving up stakes. and when I started playing for the money, it took the joy out of it. I am laying off from SnG's for a while. Maybe in a month or two I will play them again, when I can enjoy the play of donks, and good players alike.
