Good point! I am in a less serious even nonchalant(I think that's a word??) frame of mind when I go to play online. Very casual. But going to a real casino I'm so excited I always have butterflies! Next time I'll try to work myself up before I logon. Definitely need to take my online poker more seriously. Who knows, maybe I might even win! Thanks mate. Good post.
Great advice in this thread - and I'm definitely a practicer of some of these mistakes on numerous occasions.
One thing that I used to do when I played online more frequently was that before I login (doesn't matter which site, UB, PokerRoom, whatever) I had to get into a frame of mind in order to get into that mode for playing poker. It's so easy to get distracted and it's so different than when you're going to a B&M Casino.
Going to a B&M you have the travel time to think to yourself and get psyched about what you're going to do and sometimes an adrenaline rush. When you finally get there - you should be like - 'ok, I'm ready to go'. Online, your travel time involves just walking upstairs or into the next room and sittin down in the chair.
One thing that I used to do was pace around and think about past experiences - one time I even went outside and walked around the block to reflect and try to emulate the thoughts that go through my head when going to a B&M.
Not sure if this would help others, but it helps me get into that mindset of playing poker and to prevent distractions.
Cheers and good luck on the tables!
