=) too hard format, try picture+colors if you do shortening, that might just work.

Terrible shove take a note on the player and move on. I cant really fold for 70bb as we beat AK. I'd be more inclined to fold the deeper we get.

There is a theme coming through of you betting too big for thin value with 1 pair and medium strength on the river and getting wedded to the pot. John recommends 55% pot size on the river in these circumstances. It's small enough to pick up calls and big enough that any raise is less likely to be a bluff.

YES bet your set for value on the flop. Especially with the ace there. If they have an ace they are always calling so you can scale up sizing as well and then maybe bet a bit smaller on the turn to keep them in.

Alu do filter for fast formats, called over pot size+ bet and see what you find. Also do another one called a shove. Both 100bb+ effective.

I'm too lazy to do it, from memory I can't remember last time when extra large bet is not close to nuts.

was the chip leader on a 2.20 6max game at stars with $280 up top. Last 9 left.
Then made the shortest stack double up with an idiot play. Soon afterwards I'm knocked out by the same guy & he became the chip leader.
Couldn't keep my concentration. Do damn disappointing. AGAIN!

The hands

Should've shoved or folded pre. Or just give up on flop

This is variance my poker brother and it sucks. you have at the start of your poker career run quite well. I notice these things because your EV line has consistently been above expected. Whereas mine has for the last year been consistently under expected. When you downswing you will hurt, your confidence will wane and you will want to give up. How you handle it is the making of you as a player and when BRM becomes most important.

You can tell I'm a glass half empty sort of fella....

Chin up, learn and grind through it.

...I'll try and be the glass half full guy then.

Been busy with life and haven't had as much time to follow the thread Alu, but I'll say this about downswings - the most important aspect to focus on is not the individual hand results, but on the bigger picture. You have to look at poker from 10000 feet versus 1 foot which is what a lot of players get hung up on. The mental aspect of losing a big pot to a knob 4bet calling 76o has to be looked at differently - you WANT to play against players like that. Why? Their range is not profitable long term.

If you're running bad, change things up. Whether that's moving down in stakes, playing a different format, playing a different site, or simply pausing for several days to clear your head, but it's important to not push your way through the downswing - it'll only get worse.

This is one of the reasons I play on 4 sites. It gives me flexibility to change the scene and I tend to forget about the bad beats and focus on the game at hand.

You have the skills -you've shown it, now you have to pull back and look bigger picture. Because dwelling on one hand when you've probably played tens of thousands of hands is insignificant.

Gold words. Earlier I also tried to overcome downswing by playing a large number of hands. And I just gave my opponents money.

Haven't been updating although I have been playing.Has been a terrible moth so far with constant loses. I lost a considerable amount at party poker & then switched to stars.
Have been winning although not very impressive but again yesterday had a terrible session with me losing 11 buy ins.

This is obviously due to tilt & the fact that I keep on playing on tilt. Also it's pretty hot these day & I wonder this has an effect on my long sessions.

It is obvious that getting excited about short upswings keep on playing doesn't help me because this has been a constant circle with me doing the same thing over n over again.
I go on to win for a couple of days, then one bad day, & another one, and I'm on tilt & lose it all.
It's been the same story since last November.

Reading the mental game atm & hopefully the book will shed some light into this

Well book does not help at all if you 'don't do' the basic action steps you already know you should take and already know how to :stupid:

Good luck.

of course :D
Hey you should join our study group man .I don't know why you are slacking.

So read a bit of the book.
In the book there's the mention about the 4 stages of doing an acivity. From Conscious incompetence to unconscious competence.
And it's the same thing with poker obviously. Same with tilt. I should not get worried or tilted of bad beats. It's just a part of the game & I should treat as such & move on. With time it becomes a normal thing.

Even though I'm not updating the thread frequently, have been active on the study group. Analysing hands & doing some sweats.

And doing decent after the break slowly building my roll

Watched quite the interesting video made by Lex of the 25/50 Nl hands he played back in the days.
My god those players were so damn bad it's painful to watch. How much I would like play on those days

He makes a very interesting comment around 41.30 where he shows a tilt play. He says that if you do this tilt thing once a day at the present, you aren't a winning poker player. Which is exactly the issue I've been trying to get rid of

Fantastic day today.Started the session & quickly went down 3 buy ins.But ended up the session with 10 buy ins+.

900 Bigs at one table while 500 bigs at another :D

Positional stats
https://drive.google.com/open?id=15LrmAHatGY6pXkKxWdKZav9R8r4Ygat2

Lost two buy ins early due to tllt so I took a break calmed my self & got into a deep grind. Took frequent breaks while I'm playing reviewing the big hands & taking notes & it turned out to be one of my biggest successful cash days.
Obviously it's great to have such a upswing after a crappy month.

Alu is back to running it deep I suppose
