The WSOP is firing on all cylinders at the moment. While the US leg of the WSOP Main Event has started on WSOP.com, GGPoker is looking the end the year on a high with the $100 million Online Circuit series.
Open to players outside of the US, the WSOP Winter Online Circuit features 18 ring events and runs until Jan., 10.
The action started on Sunday with a $1 million guaranteed MTT costing $50. For those with deeper pockets, a $10,300 WSOPC Super Million$ High Roller rounded out the day’s action.
Players Again Flock to GGPoker
Event #1 was unique in that yesterday’s action saw both Days 1 and 2 play to a close.
Opening flights for Day 1 had been taking place for a few weeks prior to Sunday. That allowed GGPoker to generate maximum interest in the opening event.
Three final Day 1 flights were concluded as Day 2 started. When the registration period eventually closed, 31,291 entries pushed the prize pool to $1.4 million. That total also saw 3,345 players line up for Day 2.
It took less than an hour for the bubble to burst and 1,600 players to move into the money. In turn, the final few shifted their focus toward the top prize. In addition to a WSOPC ring, the winner of Event #1 is set to pick up $168,810.
Russia’s Aleksey Savenkov is currently leading the way with nine left. The man known online as ImLuckPads bagged 39.4 million chips on Day 2. That’s over 12 million more than his closest rival, QY707.

High Rollers Vying for WSOP Winter Online Circuit Gold
Also stealing some of the WSOP Main Event’s limelight on Sunday was the $10,300 WSOPC Super Million$ High Roller.
511 players paid the entry fee to create a healthy prize pool worth $5.1 million. Joaquin Melogno leads the way at the final table with just over 64 BBs.
Fans can watch him and the rest of the final nine battle for WSOPC glory and $636,072 on December 15.
GGPoker’s new final table betting feature will also be in effect. Thanks to a recent partnership with PokerShares, GGPoker users can bet on the final result.
