Online poker players in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Nevada have the chance to win and bunch of money and WSOP Circuit rings in January.
Players in the two separate online markets will compete for 24 total rings. The winners also earn an entry into a $1 million freeroll at this summer’s WSOP in Las Vegas.
Nevada and New Jersey share their players, while Pennsylvania currently does not. This forces WSOP online to hold two different series.
Pennsylvania
A dozen rings will be won by players playing within Pennsylvania’s borders in tourneys with buy-ins ranging from $100 to $1,000.
The first two events took place Wednesday and Thursday, with each attracting enough players and rebuys to shoot past the guarantees. This contrasts with last Fall when WSOP.com was forced to overlay more than $250K during its 63-event Online Championship.
Michael Lavin (“tonybandanas”) won his second WSOP ring by taking down Wednesday’s $215 Knockout event for $7,383. He added $8,289 in bounties, for a total score of $15,673. The tourney attracted 348. Lavin is on a roll. This is his second ring, the first coming in November. He also won a WSOP bracelet online last summer.
Pittsburgher Richard Ali (“Eatmushrooms”) was the runner-up to Lavin in Event #1, winning a total of $11,779. But he sealed the deal a day later, earning $17,596 in the $215 event that attracted 241. It’s Ali’s second ring, the first coming in September. The two cashes put him over the $300K mark in WSOP events.
There are nine remaining events. All start at 6:30 p.m. EST.
