Omar outlasts them all

Omar Lakhdari won his second WPT title at WPT Prime Cyprus by outlasting a field of 1,391 entries across five starting flights, which created a $1,349,270 prize pool.

First-place earned him $190,940. That includes a $10,400 seat into the 2025 WPT World Championship that takes place in Las Vegas in December.

Lakhdari’s first WPT trophy came in 2020 at the WPTDeepstakes event in Brussels. He won $101,387 for taking that down, and now has more than $3.2 million in tournament cashes — good for Number One on the all-time money list for Algerians.

“I am very happy to win. This is the second time I’ve won a WPT tournament and it’s my favorite tournament,” Lakhdari told the WPT after his victory. “I am very happy, this is amazing.”

The top 177 finishers cashed a minimum $1,940.

Attila Saracoglu was the runner-up, which was good for $125,000. Joseph Haddad prize for third-place was $93,000. Fabian Rolli (fourth-place for $70,000), Edgars Hauks (fifth-place for $53,000), and Andras Balogh (sixth-place for $31,000) rounded out the final table.

Among the notable names to cash the WPT Prime Cyprus Championship were 2022 WPTDeepStacks runner-up David Hu (16th place – $11,500), 2025 WPT Cambodia Final Tableist Daniel Charlton (79th place – $3,500), 2023 WPT Prime Cambodia Champion Reiji Kono (108th place – $2,140), and 2024 WPT Prime Cyprus Champion Tudor Purice (136th place – $1,940).

Daniels king of Thunder

Winning his first WPT title is Shawn Daniels, who took down the $3,500 WPT Rolling Thunder headliner at Thunder Valley Casino. Daniels won $218,600 and his name on the Mike Sexton WPT Champions Cup.

“To get my name on the cup is very special,” Daniels told WPT reporters. “It’s just something that means a lot and that I’ll remember forever.”

That is pretty damn cool.

It’s his second-largest score, behind the $777,777 he won in the $777 event at the 2023 WSOP. He has three World Series of Poker Circuit rings to go along with that bracelet.

Harvey Castro pushed his career tournament earnings over the $1 million mark with his runner-up finish that paid $193,000. The Texas native won another $193,600 in February, again finishing second in a $10,000 event at the PGT PokerGO Cup.

Eric Afriat was going for his fourth WPT title, but stalled in third for $122,000. He will soon crest the $6 million lifetime tourney cashes mark.

Paul Richardson ($91,000), David Ha ($69,000), and Benjamin Primus ($53,000) rounded out the top six.

The event attracted 404 entries who generated a $1,292,800 prize pool.
