Have yourself a week, Wai Kin Yong. The Asian high roller shipped the £100,000 Triton No-Limit Hold’em Main Event for £2.44 million on August 6. That was enough to prove his skills, apparently. He enters Thursday’s £100,000 Short Deck Main Event final table with the chip lead, playing for a shot at another £2.67 million.
The series concludes with the short deck final table, and what a memorable poker series it has been. You can catch the final day of action from London at Triton-Series.com. CardsChat’s Jeff Gross is among the commentators. He will be joined by Randy “nanonoko” Lew and Twitch streamer Lex Veldhuis.
Making Millions in a Day
Most work an entire lifetime to earn a combined seven figures. Wai Kin Yong has a shot at surpassing the £5 million mark in a matter of 24 hours.
He first defeated Paul Phua, the Triton poker co-founder, heads-up to take down the £100,000 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event. That was good for £2.44 million. Just 24 hours later and he finds himself with a commanding chip lead in the £100,000 Short Deck Main Event with seven players remaining.
The 28-year-old Malaysian poker player will have his work cut out for him. He’ll be facing a tough final table that includes Justin Bonomo who is attempting to close the gap on Bryn Kenney for the all-time winningest live tournament player.
Kenney won the £1.05 million Triton Million last week for $20.5 million US dollars. With that massive score – the largest in poker history – he surpassed Bonomo for the all-time earnings lead at $55.5 million. Bonomo is at just over $45 million but could earn as much as $3.25 million at the short deck final table.
Phua also deserves some props. After coming up just short of the title in the no-limit hold’em main event, he is back at another final table with Yong.

‘Durrrr’ and Other Familiar Faces Cash
The Triton London series hasn’t been kind to Tom “durrrr” Dwan. He busted the £1.05 Triton Million in about an hour. But he picked up a cash in the short deck main event – 12th place out of 108 entries for £191,900.
Dwan wasn’t the only big name pro to earn some cash in this high roller event. Stephen Chidwick (9th for £269,600), Jason Koon (10th for £217,700), Cary Katz (13th for £191,900), and Triton co-founder Richard Yong (15th for £177,000), all made the money.
