The 2016 World Series of Poker (WSOP) will have yet another corporate partner this summer in the form of Delta Trading.
Following in the wake of the recent sponsorship deal between 888poker and the WSOP (a deal which saw 888poker replace DraftKings as the headline sponsor), Delta Trading will now have a presence inside the Rio.
Despite being an online trading company, the deal will see Delta Trading set up camp just outside the tournament area from the start of the WSOP (May 31) until the Main Event comes to a temporary stop on July 18.
Free Lessons, Free Seats
Players attending the series will be able to visit the Delta Trading booth between 10am and 12pm EST Monday to Friday and sign-up for two free sessions in the company’s private trading room.
The aim of the project is to give poker players an insight into the world of online trading and the lessons will see professional traders drop some knowledge for those sizing up a new moneymaking venture.
To add some poker interest to Delta Trading’s products, the company will be sponsoring Michael, Robert, and Eric Mizrachi throughout the WSOP.
Additionally, any player who signs up to Delta Trading at its WSOP boot before July 1 will be entered into a draw to win a seat in the $1,000 tag team event on July 6 as part of #TeamRobert or #TeamMichael.
Poker’s Trading Connections
The movement of poker players to trading and traders to poker is one that’s become well established over the last few years.
High stakes pros such as Bill Chen (author of The Mathematics of Poker), WSOP bracelet winner Ben Vogl and Jason Strasser have all swapped casinos for Wall Street.
Similarly, part-time poker players like Dan Shak, David Einhorn, and recent SCOOP High Roller winner Talal Shakerchi regularly take a break from their hedge funds to play a few rounds of poker.
Trading on the theoretical similarities between the two pursuits, Delta Trading will be hoping to convert a new batch of players to join their online platform this summer.
For those who prefer taxing off-the-felt activities during the WSOP, many online operators will be hosting VIP events for satellites winners while Treasure Island’s poker room will take on a distinctly European vibe.
Thanks to Living It Loving It and UK card room Dusk Till Dawn, players will be able to watch Euro 2016 soccer matches, take advantage of free drink promotions and play high stakes cash games throughout the series.
As ever it looks as though Las Vegas is going to be a hive of activity for everyone and anyone that attends the WSOP this summer.
