After signing a partnership deal with the World Poker Tour in December 2021, world-famous DJ Steve Aoki is set to make his debut on the felt as a WPT partner this weekend at the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown.
“I am super excited to get back to playing some cards with the World Poker Tour. Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown here I come,” Aoki said in a WPT press release.
The event kicks off on Friday, April 8, and will conclude on Tuesday, April 12. Fans will get a chance to interact with Aoki on April 10 when he’ll be hosting a meet and greet autograph session on Sunday afternoon. Aoki will then host a VIP gathering at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino that evening.
Not the first time Aoki has been on the felt
Aoki doesn’t have any tournament cashes listed on Hendon Mob, but he has posted snippets of private home games before on his social media channels. Just last year, he appeared on “Poker After Dark” alongside social media bad boy Dan Bilzerian. He also played in the $25,000 WPT Heads Up Championship, losing to high roller regular Dan Smith 2-1.
WPT CEO Adam Pliska said in the press release how excited the tour is to have a global superstar like Aoki there to help promote its brand and events. “Steve Aoki brings an unmatched passion and energy to any venue,” said Pliska. “As we continue to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the World Poker Tour, having Steve augment the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown is all we could ask for.”
The Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown is just the second event of the year in a lighter-than-normal schedule for the WPT season. The third and final event announced so far will kick off at WPT Choctow on May 13.
