WSOP misses guarantee

The prize pool guarantee was the largest in history, and as it turned out, the $50 million promise for the $25,000 Super Main Event that is winding down at Atlantis in the Bahamas missed its mark.

But just barely.

Needing 2,000 entries to reach the goal, it fell short by 22, giving the tournament a $550,000 overlay.

The WSOP nearly hit their goal with the help of 600 entries from holding Day 1s online. A total of 90 players got through to Day 2 on GGPoker, while 1,378 entries were collected live.

The final table is set to continue today after Chris Moneymaker was eliminated by Liv Boeree, who is going for her first WSOP bracelet and $6 million. Joining her are Marcelo Aziz, Mustapha Kanit, Vadzim Lipauka , Justin Bonomo, Michael Addamo, George Lehmann, Yinan Zhou, and Christopher Nguyen.

Fuller wins in Las Vegas

Thomas Fuller is the winner of the $1,600 BetMGM Poker Open that took place at the Aria in Las Vegas this week. He topped a field of 1,130 entries to win $272,074.

“It was incredible, I was really happy with my play, but I made one horrific misclick at the final table. It would have been hard to forgive myself if this wasn’t the result. I’m so grateful,” he said afterwards.

Fuller made his living at the poker table in his 20s, but stepped away from the game to become an elementary school teacher. He only returned to poker six months ago.

“I’ve learned a lot in the last year. This is a magical way to cap my comeback. It’s changed quite a bit in a way that’s beneficial to me,” he said. “It’s become more academic and measured rather than bravado, which was my weakness. That was a change I didn’t anticipate.”

New casino in New Hampshire

The Revo Casino and Social House in Lebanon, New Hampshire, opened its doors for the first time yesterday. It’s the fourth Revo Casino to open in the Granite State, and like the other properties, this one also has a poker room.

The five-table room ran a Grand Opening promotion: An hourly $300 high-hand bonus. A healthy schedule of daily tournaments is already on the calendar.

A portion of the proceeds from the now dozen casinos in New Hampshire goes to charity. So far, $139 million has been raised in 2024.
