The Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood casino in South Florida will reopen its doors — including those to it’s spacious and popular poker room — on June 12. But patrons should be prepared for some operational changes due to COVID-19.

Numerous Florida poker rooms have reopened over the past few weeks, including those at the Seminole Hard Rock in Tampa and at Bestbet Jacksonville, which hosts an annual WPT event. Tampa’s Hard Rock has 46 poker tables, the second-most in Central Florida behind Derby Lane in St. Petersburg (51).

In South Florida, the Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood is among the largest card rooms in the area with 38 tables. Palm Beach Kennel Club, with 64 poker tables, boasts the largest poker room in the Sunshine State.

It’s certainly an exciting time for poker players in Florida, at least for those who don’t fear catching COVID-19. With many card rooms already having reopened, live poker is back in the Sunshine State. And it will grow even further on Friday when the casino opens for the first time in three months.

The poker room, considered one of the best places to play poker in the state, will also return, but there will be some safety procedures in place to help limit the spread of coronavirus.

The South Florida casino is implementing many of the same safety measures as dozens of other casinos around the country. In Las Vegas casinos, for example, every other slot machine chair is removed. And in some gambling establishments, alternating slot machines are turned off. That is similar to the policy adopted by the Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood, and other Florida casinos.

The Hard Rock poker room will open at noon on Friday. Poker dealers and players will be required to wear masks, and plexiglass dividers will divide players at the tables. Seminole Hard Rock is one of the most popular card rooms in the US, having hosted multiple annual World Poker Tour events.
