Doyle Brunson is coming to PokerGo Jan. 7 to compete in the new regularly scheduled mixed-game show, “Dolly’s Game,” a play on the 2017 poker movie, “Molly’s Game.”
The cash game series takes place in Las Vegas at the PokerGo Studio outside of Aria on the Strip. Aria has become the unofficial home of high-stakes poker in recent years. High roller events such as the Super High Roller Bowl and also the Poker Masters take place at the Sin City casino.
“Texas Dolly,” the face of poker for more than 40 years, will be featured on the new show along with other poker stars. Expect to see the likes of Brian Rast and maybe even Gus Hansen at the table some weeks. These are regulars in Doyle’s game at Bellagio.
Brunson will help introduce mixed games to a “wider audience.”
Doyle Brunson: Living Legend
Hundreds of thousands of dollars will exchange hands during these sessions. Per Poker Central, the shows will air “live” and “regularly scheduled.” But the poker media outlet didn’t specify which days each week fans can expect to watch.
“I’ve been playing this great game my entire life,” Doyle said. “I’m glad to continue the legacy and bring it to a new, wider audience.”
Brunson certainly knows how to bring attention to poker, or himself. The living poker legend famously retired without actually retiring this past summer.
In a June tweet, Doyle implied he was retiring after competing in the $10,000 WSOP 2-7 No-Limit Lowball Draw Championship. He went on to crush the competition until the final table where he busted in sixth place ($44,000).
Poker media and also the mainstream news networks such as ESPN honored the poker great. But his retirement lasted about as long as Jerry Yang’s poker career. Doyle was back at Bellagio grinding the big games days later. And even at 85, he is showing no interest in walking away from the game he loves.
Introducing Mixed Games
Mixed games have been around for years and have long been popular at the high-stakes levels. But it’s rare for any game other than Texas hold’em to appear on television or a livestream.
Poker Central, through “Texas Dolly,” will attempt to draw more attention to mixed games. “Dolly’s Game” will feature poker variants such as 2-7 triple draw, stud, badugi, and other games many poker fans have never played. Heck, the players might even invent new games. That’s a fairly common occurrence in the high-stakes mixed game world.
To watch “Dolly’s Game,” you must have a PokerGo subscription ($10 per month).
