August is set to be a hot month for those wanting added value thanks to the latest tournament offerings from PokerStars.
Topping the bill at the end of the month is EPT Barcelona. The ever-popular live event goes down inside Casino Barcelona from August 21 to September 3.
The €5,300 main event is always one to watch. In fact, the 2022 EPT Barcelona main event set a new record with 2,294 entrants, but that wasn’t even the best story. Winner Giuliano Bendinelli was down to one big blind on the final day but came back to score a momentous victory and a payout worth almost €1.5 million.
Players powering through PokerStars qualifiers
This year’s Catalan showdown is expected to be just as dramatic. PokerStars will be sending hundreds of players to EPT Barcelona via its Power Path program. Introduced this year, the new satellite system allows players to win bronze, silver, and gold passes.
Gold passes can be used for PokerStars Live events, including EPT Barcelona. Time is running out, but those with access to PokerStars.com and PokerStars’ European networks can play for gold passes and choose on of the following EPT Barcelona packages:
- EPT Barcelona Seat, Hotel & Expenses: Entry to EPT Barcelona Main Event and the €1,100 Freezeout (Event #47)
- EPT and ESPT Barcelona Seat & Expenses: Entry to EPT Barcelona Main Event, the Estrellas Barcelona Main Event, and the Estrellas Barcelona Cup
Anyone who wins a silver pass can swap it for a seat in the Estrellas Barcelona main event and expenses. Alternatively, if a trip to Spain doesn’t suit, there are Power Path routes to the following tournaments in September and October:
- UKIPT Brighton, UKIPT London, UKIPT Edinburgh, and UKIPT Nottingham
- Eureka Hamburg
- LAPT Panama
- BSOP Foz do Iguaçu
- ESPT Malaga, ESPT Sevilla
- FPS Aix-les-Bains, FPS Aix-en-Provence
The action out on the road this August is matched by a stacked schedule of online events. PokerStars’ Midstakes Madness Series runs from August 6 to 13 before the 2023 World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) starts on September 10.
WCOOP bundles for PokerStars pass holders
To mark the start of WCOOP 2023, a new selection of Power Path qualifiers have been added to the satellite lobby. Gold and silver passes can be exchanged for WCOOP bundles. Each bundle contains a selection of MTT tickets, including seats in the $5,200 WCOOP main event.
