Daniel Negreanu is selling his package. No, not the clump of socks he recently shared on Instagram. A 2019 WSOP investment package and — get this — he isn’t charging any markup, a pseudo slap in the face to the Poker Twitter drama queens who apparently don’t understand how a free market works.
Kid Poker announced his plans for the upcoming series in a YouTube vlog Monday night. He also addressed a couple other issues in the video, including the 50 Cent versus Randall Emmett drama and poker staking.
Negreanu said he’s going to play even more WSOP events this summer than in year’s past. That includes even the smaller buy-in tournaments as his goal is to win Player of the Year for a third time. No other player has won it twice.
Doing it for the Fans
Negreanu said in his video that he’s selling action for every event he plays this summer. He’s selling pieces in three separate packages – low, medium, and high buy-ins. But there’s a kicker to it.
In response to Shaun Deeb and others bashing Johnnie “Vibes” Moreno for charging a high markup on his WSOP action, DNegs defended the popular vlogger.
“Free market,” he said in his recent YouTube video. “When did that become such a nasty concept? It’s really puzzling to me.”
But it appears the poker community might benefit from all the poker staking drama. Negreanu then said he’s offering his fans his own WSOP package. And even though he knows he could command a high markup, he’s selling pieces at zero markup. That means you get 100 percent of the equity from your investment.
What’s at Stake?
Fans can only make a small investment as he wants to give as many people as possible an opportunity to have a sweat.
For the tournaments he enters at $1,500 or less, you can purchase up to $100 of his action. Medium-priced events – $1,501 to $10,000 – fans can invest up to $500. And for the high rollers – $10,001 and above – you can get in on the action for as much as $5,000.
Negreanu is covering most of the expenses on his own except for the high roller package in which he is selling 50 percent of his action.
He still hasn’t worked out the logistics, so we can’t yet send you a link to invest. But you can expect that information either in a vlog post or on Twitter in the coming days.
Negreanu is the second winningest live tournament player in history with $39.8 million in cashes. Only Justin Bonomo, with $44.6 million, has more. He is a six-time WSOP bracelet winner, although he hasn’t shipped one since 2013.
The PokerStars ambassador admitted in his video he desperately wants to win Player of the Year for a third time. His goal is to win it again before someone else matches his record of two POY titles. He won those in 2004 and 2013.
