What an incredible start to the 2023 World Series of Poker for Chad Eveslage who won his second and third bracelets by sweeping this year’s dealer’s choice events. All three were won within the last 12 months.
Eveslage, 31, kicked off the first week of the WSOP by taking down the $1,500 dealer’s choice 6-handed event for $131,879. He was the last of the 456 who challenged themselves in this multi-game variant.
Three days later, he got to do the double-bracelet pose after winning the $10,000 Dealers Choice 6-Handed Championship, giving him the sweep in the only two dealer’s choice events offered this year. The championship saw 115 entrants, and Eveslage added another $311,428 to his bankroll before the WSOP was even seven days old.
Dutch Boyd, who rose to the top of the poker world 20 years ago at the 2003 WSOP Main Event, was going for his fourth bracelet in the championship, but flamed out in second for $192,479. Boyd and his crew were featured by ESPN in 2003, the year Chris Moneymaker sparked the poker boom. Boyd’s last bracelet came in 2014.
He gave Eveslage credit for his victory via Twitter:
Fwiw – @chadeveslage played so far above the rim it was kind of inspiring. I think you’re going to win a 3rd this summer, champ. Gg and the best man won.

The dealer’s choice tourneys are some of the most challenging events to both play in and deal. Players choose the kind of game they want to play when the button comes to them, and they have many choices:
No-Limit Hold’em; Limit Hold’em; Razz; Seven Card Stud; Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better; Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo Regular; Pot-Limit Hold’em; Pot-Limit Omaha; Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better; Pot-Limit 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw; Big O; Limit Omaha High; Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better; Limit 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw; Ace to 5 Lowball Triple Draw; Badugi; Badeucy; Badacy; No-Limit 2-7 Lowball Draw; No-Limit 5-Card Draw High and 2-7 Razz.
Eveslage be rolling
It’s been more than a 10-year journey for Eveslage to get here, but something seems to be clicking for the Fort Lauderdale-based pro within the last year as he scored his biggest cashes to date.
In 2022, he won his first WSOP bracelet in the $25,000 No-Limit Hold’em 8-Handed High Roller event for his first million dollar score of $1,415,610. That event saw a killer final table of Jake Schindler (2nd), Josh Arieh (3rd), Chris Brewer (4th), and Koray Adelmir (6th).
Three months later, Eveslage won his second World Poker Tour event for his second milly cash: $1,042,300 at the $10,400 Five Diamond World Poker Classic.
Also, all his major victories came since 2021, including a $767,576 win at the $25,500 WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown, another $910,370 win at the $5,000 WPT DeepStack Championship Poker Series, as well as a win in a $1,500 event at the WPT Lucky Hearts Poker Open for $101,572. He also came in second for $198,959 in the WSOP $3,200 online bracelet event that year.
After he won his third bracelet last week, he sniffed another final table in the $10,000 Seven Card Stud Championship event, but was knocked out in 12th for $20,472. If he continues this run, he’ll surely have a shot at the 2023 WSOP Player of the Year race, which he is currently winning.
