Martin Hackett
Assistant Administrator
Martin always enjoyed playing cards growing up. He found out about hold’em after watching several episodes of Late Night Poker on TV and thought, ‘I can do that.’ He opened his first online poker account back in the days of dial-up internet, and kept noticing CardsChat games were set up in different rooms. So, like a lot of members Martin searched for CardsChat to try to find passwords, and liked what he found. That was back in 2010. Martin is now a moderator and helps run the CardsChat League, where the emphasis is on good play, sportsmanship and friendly chat.

Shelley started playing poker a few years back when some members of her online Euchre club suggested they try a poker game or two, starting out with play money games. She eventually started playing real money games, joined CardsChat, and started qualifying for freerolls.
The freerolls were helpful in improving her game, but she found the content from CardsChat members far more valuable for upping her game. “You can take it as far as you want and there will always be someone available and willing to guide you.” Shelley has become an integral part of the CardsChat community. She is a Moderator and part of the League team.

Chris started playing poker back in the early 2000’s with a group of friends in a home game that turned into a regular series of MTTs and action-packed cash games. He won his local bar league championship in 2006 before taking some time off from poker to concentrate on settling down, getting married, having kids and changing jobs.
Rediscovering his love for poker in 2015 coincided with discovering the CardsChat forum. Chris made some good friends playing in the CardsChat World Cup, was introduced to the CardsChat League in Winter 2017, and has been all-in on the site ever since!

David’s first experience with poker was “donking it up” with co-workers on play money tables while working in a real estate office in 2005. He initially thought of poker as just another casino gambling game played against the house, but in 2013 David came across some articles about the WSOP Main Event and realized that not only did many players earn a good living playing poker full-time, but some actually went on to win life-changing money.
After originally coming to CardsChat for the freerolls, he’s still working on the part about life-changing money, but David makes a difference to our forum members as a CardsChat moderator.

Ken N.
Forum Guide
Ken hails from New York and is known on CardsChat as “Luvepoker”. He played poker in his youth but it wasn’t until watching the 2003 World Series of Poker on ESPN that he became truly entranced with the game. The ‘math geek’ in Ken loved working out probabilities and intricacies of the game for hours, all while working towards a degree in Electronics. Ken started to play home games and then online poker about a year later.
After finishing his degree in 2006, and starting a family, Ken focused mainly on being a student of game in the micro stakes. He joined CardsChat on the advice of a friend. “A friend told me about this place to get free money. I joined to shut him up. A few weeks in I started to look around and posted a response to a hand someone played. Then another and another…With CardsChat we have a place to hang out and talk to like-minded players. If you really want to improve your game this is the place.”
Ken plays for the love of the game and equally loves talking poker. You can feel free to ask him any questions about the game; he will be all too happy to talk with you!
