Live Casino & Hotel Maryland has just what the doctor ordered for players on the Atlantic side of the United States: The Maryland State Poker Championships, Aug 9-22.
The 19-event series begins with the $400 $20,000 HORSE Championship and continues with a couple or more tournaments a day until the $1,100 $50,000 guaranteed closer Aug. 21.
Its $5,300 Main with a $1 million guarantee begins Aug. 18, with the final table scheduled for Aug. 22. A $2,200, $50,000 guaranteed event starts Aug. 17, but Live! Casino Maryland kept the small and mid-stakes players in mind when creating the schedule, which includes chances at events with six-figure guarantees for three-figure buy-ins.
A multi-starting day $600 tournament with a $500,000 guaranteed begins the first of its five flights Aug. 10. A $360 event with a $100,000 guarantee starts the first if its four flights Aug. 14. Both of those are no-limit hold’em events, but the full schedule contains a mix of games not usually seen in series.
The winner of last January’s version of the $600 event won close to $50,000 and the 2022 $2,200 headliner easily doubled its $300,000 guaranteed by attracting 344 players. Jimmy Born won $119,000 by taking it down after making a deal with Nicholas Verderamo.
The special tourneys include a $330, $20,000 guaranteed Ladies Championship on Aug. 13, a $500, $50,000 guaranteed 50-and-older Seniors event on Aug. 15, and a $400, $10,000 guaranteed 60-and-older Super Seniors event on Aug. 17.
Daily satellites for selected events are now running at the 52-table poker room, which always has a healthy slate of tourneys scheduled.
This is the fifth year for the Maryland State Poker Championship at Live! Casino Maryland, which is located southeast of Baltimore (and minutes away from its airport).
