888poker is taking its shot with a seven-figure guarantee on its new $109 Big Shot Special edition tournament. The $1 million guarantee makes this the biggest online poker tournament that 888poker has launched in 2021.
Daily Big Shot tournaments
The global online poker market has seen its fair share of big poker tournaments from PokerStars, GGPoker, WSOP.com, and Partypoker in 2021, but there hasn’t been a lot of noise from 888. That’s about to change with this special $109 Big Shot Special edition.
Before we take a look at the special edition, let’s take a look at the differences between the daily and Sunday Big Shot tournaments.
888poker overhauled its weekly tournament schedule in early 2021, introducing the Big Shot brand. The Big Shot tournament takes place from Monday to Saturday each week, and offers players four different buy-ins. This No-Limit Hold’em tournament has a re-entry format and different levels of buy-ins to enable poker players with different bankrolls to participate.
The buy-ins start from as low as $11 and go up to $109, with the max guaranteed prize pool reaching $20,000.
Sunday Big Shot tournaments
888poker players get a better version of the Big Shot tournament on Sundays. There are four buy-ins for the Sunday special:
- The Big Shot 5.50 is for low-stakes players and features a $5.50 buy-in with a $5,000 guarantee
- The Big Shot 33 caters to mid-stakes players with a $33 buy-in and a $15,000 guarantee
- The Big Shot 109 has a $109 buy-in and a guarantee of $150,000
- The Big Shot 525 is a 2-day event that has a $525 buy-in and a $100,000 guarantee
September’s Big Shot Special
888poker is switching things up this month with a Big Shot Special that will run through September 30. The buy-in for the Big Shot Special is fixed at $109 and the guaranteed prize pool is $1 million. 888poker opened up its Day 1 flights, which will run until the end of the month.
Players who ante up their $109 buy-in will receive 10,000 chips. Play will commence at a 30/60 blind level and a 7 chip ante. The blinds will increase every 12 minutes, and players can re-enter the tournament for the first 160 minutes of play. Players who complete 18 levels of play in any of the flights will automatically move on to Day 2 of the tournament.

All players who make it to Day 2 of the tournament will be guaranteed a piece of the $100,000 prize pool. Day 2 of the tournament is set to take place on Sept. 27.
Satellites and freerolls
888poker has made the buy-in for this Big Shot special edition very affordable and expects a good response. The poker operator will need 10,000 player registrations to meet its $1 million guarantee.
