I think you can move up in stakes when you feel comfortable with yourself play and dominate the actual stakes that you play. Also a good bankroll management is mandatory

First of all, you need to proceed from what your bankroll management allows you to do. Gradually, if the bankroll allows you to do so, you can easily increase your buy-in, but it is important to do it step by step.

100 X buy in minimum and when you feel confortable already crushing your current buy in level.

I agree with the 100 buy-ins rule. Also, make sure you're confident in your skills and dominating your current level before moving up. Gradual progression and good bankroll management are key.

A few years ago I was told that I should have a 100x buy-in or something like that. A friend found me playing a tournament that was, I think, $5.50 on pokerstars, and suddenly he asked me: "How much is your bankroll?" I told him I had $10 and I registered for this $5.50 tournament. You can imagine the scolding I got. This friend gave me a lecture that I no longer remember what he said, but since then I try not to do that kind of thing.
