I'm a new player. For now I play only freerolls at 888poker and poker stars and I find them very dificult to win.
Sometimes I play good freerolls like cardschat's freerolls for example and I find them more easy too win then regular freerolls.
The structure of regular freerolls is so difficult (timing, blinds etc). They seem to me impossible to win. I would like always play freerolls like made by CardsChat, but they happend to rare.

I create this thread to find people who can share their knowledge about how is their tactics at freerolls with starting stack around 20-25 bigs and even 12,5 bigs like on pokerstars. I would like to know:

1. How often do you win this type of freerolls?
2. Do you know some videos or other info about strategy at this kind of tournaments? Maybe some streamers who play only freerolls.
3. What is your strategy?

and any other adwises would be very helpfull.

The freerolls at 888Poker are rather bingo than actual poker due to the blind structure and stack sizes.

Also if you manage to survive a field of 1000s of players, often your win is only going to be a few cents or maybe $1-$2.

So regarding your questions, I'm not able to answer your questions but I can offer an alternative:
If you want to improve your game, I can highly recommend our free CardsChat course and once you think you have the basics, you can try making a small deposit and start playing some small micro SnGs/small MTTs.

Pokerstars has some $0.25 45-man SnGs if I'm not mistaken. So with a deposit of $20-$25, you should be able to see if you can increase this bankroll by playing those or not. If it works, you can slowly go up in stakes in case you feel comfortable.

Hope that helps. 👍🏻

I don't play PS freerolls, for me it's just don't worth my time (prize too small for so many players). 888poker freerolls are good, but you will need a lot of luck to win them because the level of blinds increase very fast. To be honest, I never won any of the daily 888 freerolls, I made a few FT. My strategy usually is play more tight in the beginning and wait for good hands, in the middle-late stages you really don't have other option than play aggressively.

1. Play tight solid poker despite the general madness.
2. Don't spew off your stack trying big bluffs, most freeroll players just won't get it or just won't care.
3. Go for max value on you hands (flipside of 2.)
4. Play lots of them, preferably simultaneously (across sites if need be) to maximise your potential and make best use of time.
5, Stay positive, they can be infuriating and some very difficult to get a result in due to crap shoot structures.

I have won many freeroll tournaments. In my experience, always be cautious because most players tend to go all-in frequently since it's a free tournament. Wait for good cards before going all-in. Once you reach the in money, start playing a bit more aggressively

There are plenty of free rolls across many sites some like those requiring passwords limit the amount of players so you are more likely to make the money, I like jackpoker they have many different free rolls not requiring deposits and like stated above by monkeytilter so you are able to play multiple games to increase your odds. In the big picture however poker is poker free rolls or not granted when it costs a player nothing to play you'll find alot of instant all ins which can go any which way. In the end poker is poker and skills pay the bills so how do you win? Well it's the same as finding your way to Carnegie Hall, how to you get there? PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!

When it comes to freerolls, I follow quite simple principles.
1. My main goal is to get to the ITM, so I'm ready to use a time bank if it's relevant :)
2. I play quite patiently and usually don't take risks with junk if my stack is bigger than at least 10 blinds.
3. Hyper freerolls are more about bingo than poker, so my goal is just to take part in them and try to get my share of the prize money :)

I like registering pretty late so I don't play for two hours to win a dollar. Double up quickly or move on to the next one. Also, people in freerolls love to see flops so I like to raise 1/3 of my stack with big hands and jam pretty much any flop. Works quite well.

Yeah giving a new player the advice to stall to get itm. Great tip by u.

My tip would be to not listen to anything a player says that almost never plays a hand. Who could that be?

I don't understand your sceptical remark. As for my advice, I do believe that sometimes using a time bank can help you get to the ITM when it comes to hyper freerolls at 888.
But I would definitely not recommend listening to your advice, given your ‘incredible’ playing style :)

What could I add? Only this, but maybe someone already said it in other words: freerolls are meant to be a good and cheap way to practice and get used to the game without risking too much. Only thing you are spending is your time and effort. And they can be rewarding enough to build your bankroll if you want to give a shot in paid tournaments (or maybe even trying cash games).
Couple of things to have in mind: it is very difficult to win tournaments with a huge amount of players. When this number is over 1,000 players, chances are really small. But of course you can get there. If tournaments are turbo or hyper, my advice would be to not be afraid and try to go for it before you get too short. Don't make crazy moves, just have patience, but also don't get too shy, otherwise you'll get eaten by the blinds and will only min. cash a lot!

My tip is basically based on studying the game, here in the community there is good content about it... YouTube also helps a lot... playing without knowledge will not help your evolution...

Played so many of it already. And won only couple of cents. My maximum was 2 dollars and 11 dollar ticket. From all I played maybe 10 percent I won. I search for info how to win more but most of the people give advice about microlimits. These type of tournaments prety same but still different. At list I see them like that.

Played poker for twenty years. Proud to say that I never ever have played a freeroll. People can do what they want. I want to invest currency - my bankroll - to beat the game. In cash games 6-handed. real money in each hand played, won or lost. Not a very social game, since any cash games is warfare. That’s how I like it. Freerolls! No way!

Freerolls are great for understanding the entire structure of tournaments on sites. If you know how to master the platform's Freeroll then you understand how to win on the gaming site!
