why is this such a big thing nowadays? people calling all the way to the river with their small pair hoping to hit a set? just had some guy do it on me, i had AJ, flop is AJ2 he calls, turn is a 7 he calls again river is a 5, he shoves and shows 55 for the set. back in time if you missed a flop you folded even with a pair.

I think it's most likely newer players....,

then again hard to say without a hand history showing the action,

either way I don't mind bad calls😎👍

Everyone plays the way they think is right. What seems right to someone else does not necessarily have to be right for you. Do not take such situations to heart. Try not to spoil your mood :)

Being a calling station isn’t a new thing, this is what they do. Your job is to keep betting big when we have it against them and if they get lucky with a 2 outer who cares tell them nice hand so they keep doing it.

If i paid him then i tag him with a note saying exactly what happened ' "he called me down with his 55 and hits set on the river and i pay him - charge him a lot!"

I'm always hoping that I read the note before I engage this player in the future.

If he will call almost anything - then I will charge him 3/4 to full pot each street.

But also a player may not know if their little pair is actually good against you....and that is profitable for you - until they figure that out and tag you with that note !

Yes.

Although to David's initial post, players are floating/calling flop so much more frequently these days.
