is 10J suited an all-in shove?

For about 20 hands, I simply didn't get any card that I could get in a pot with. The best I got was Q10os early in position and I didn't play it. Blinds were up to 500 and ante was about 50 or 75. I had only 3600 or so chips left. Coming out of the second break, I had 10dJd and would be second to act, I was thinking of shoving right there. But UTG raised it up to 2000. He had been playing real tight and had only raised preflop a couple of times, so after thinking about it, I folded.

All folded and the SB shoved all in. It turned out UTG had AKsuited and SB had AQos. But, had I called, I would have hit a full house and tripled up.

Should I have taken a risk right there?

(I ended up losing about a dozen hands later anyway. Shoved with A8 from the button, got called with KQ and he hit trip Qs on the flop)

not with that much action in front of you. if you were in control of the betting, i likely would have shoved, but there is too much strength being indicated by other players at the table that make this an easy fold. the result of the hand doesn't matter, you made the correct play.

You made the right fold, but if there's no action before your turn - JTs is a good hand to shove when you have less than 10 BB, because you will often be called by a smaller pocket pair 22-99 which makes it a coinflip.

You will also often see people calling you with AK,AQ or KQ and you will have 2 live cards and about 40% chance to win.

I prefer JT for shoving than AJ/AT (even AQ) because if I do get called - I usually see Ace with a better kicker.

When evaluating your play, really focus on NOT being results oriented. IMO laying down the JT was ez.... don't question it just because of how the cards fell.

Exactly, the board could have just as easily fell A-8-4 rainbow and you would've been dead. Had the action been folded around to you and you had the opportunity to be first in, then you could think about pushing, but you would still want to look and evaluate how the people behind you are.

It is hard not to think that way I know. God how many times I've folded 75o or whatever and the board comes 775/575/777/etc. Just want to smack yourself in the head sometimes, but over the long run, if you're playing those hands, you're losing.

I play hands like that every so often from the CO or button if I have people right where I want them. If you say okay, i'll raise with ATC just to throw a wrench, it is very effective. just don't do it right after going to a showdown with rags

i take it you were short...blinds high...lookin to shove. its no longer time to be waiting around for a good hand, of course...so you really want as little opposition as possible. if you're in the sb and its folded to you, and you got 47s...i mean...there's your all-in hand. any two cards are fine in that situation. it really depends on what you have left in your stack though. try to make these moves while your chip stack being shoved out there is enough to make people fold. if your chipstack is all of 2 BB's...then, even if you finally did get dealt AA, you can't really get mad when half the table calls and you lose

IMO J10 is an easy fold in that position, actually it is an easy fold from any position if someone has opened the betting, but if it is cheap enough to see a flop then a call is ok.

J 10 is a lousy hand to shove with IMO.

When you are short stacked you sometimes have to make a stand with cards you otherwise would not. So yes J-10 suited can be a good bet, because of the straight & flush chances as well as being pretty good against low paired pocket cards. But like others have stated to get the value for these cards you have to be able to act first. When you have others call before you that causes you All-In to not look so strong. Plus the more people that call the better the chances are of being sucked out. I think that you did make the right call. Just sometimes the Poker Gods Love to Mock you after the fact.

yea, i can't see shoving with JT... you're always gonna be starting off behind... that just doesn't make sense.

You made the right play with UTG raising first. You can't determine the outcome of the cards, you can only get your chips in with the best hand.. and you didn't have the best hand when you would have been all-in.

As you saw when the two players showed their hands.. you made a good fold.

Picked up AJ UTG with about 38000 chips left with BB at 7000 or 8000. I shoved it. Got one call with KJ.

Damn K comes on the river. Finished 53rd. Damn. I would have had 100,000+ chips had I not gotten nailed by that 3 outter suckout. Every elimination hand lately I've been ahead going in on the final hand. But it means nothing as soon as the community cards come.

that is an easy fold. The fact that the other two guys had you dominated tells you that you made a good fold. Just because you would have hit a full house does not mean anything. That's like saying " I had 2 7 off and folded and would have flopped quad 7s on the flop. Should I have played the hand since i would have flopped the nuts?"

JT is a good hand to steal with. At least you have some possiblities after the flop if you get called. HOWEVER, JT is definately NOT a hand to call with or shove with, especially if the pot has already been opened.

Both plays have been correct.
The laydown and the shove with A8.
Do not play with cards that you would have hit a monster!
That will happen with any card combination, even with 27.
Will you go all in with 27 against a raise too??
