As you may know, Mr C emailed me a hand history from a recent P'Stars tourney for mine (and others) input. Little did i know what wonders (horrors!) it contained. This may be the worlds longest thread, so i've disected it into parts (and just to let you know, his play got MUCH better after the intial hands). But here goes - here's the notable hands from the first 15.

Hand 2

Seat 5: 1gooddaddy collected (1350)

Raising from early position with 3 callers already with KJ? Fold Dennis (or at least hope for a cheap 40 call).

Post flop, OK raise to find out where you stood, but this was a bit heavy. Basically 400 chips slung away on nothing - still, never mind!

Well you got your ass handed to you playing junk from an early position, so you're not going to make that mistake again with an identical hand are you? Wait you are? OK!

Hit the flop better this time, so a nice continuation bet to either take pot down or get a speculative call? No, you're all in! Major over bet (though you got a call, probably based on your play last hand). Dodged a bullet here, but on to the next hand.

5th hand, and presumably the front doors just rung or you need to go to the loo so want to end the game. I dont think I need to analyse this one - i'll just ask - why Dennis?

Down to 455 chips without having a playable hand - sounds like me in Titan events! On reflection I think I like this play - it says, "i'm on Tilt, take my chips". It got the required call and held up. Me? I'd have bet half as much, presuming that someone would come over the top, and increasing likelihood of a call.

Nothing much doing for a few hands, then this - A8 early position I suppose should be slung, but OK it's early days and the blinds are small, so give it a call. You've hit flop again, but you're hardly bombproof, so lets put out a pot size bet to see if you can take the pot down - whoa, all-in again Den! But another call (with A5?)? Maybe you're on to something here?
Seriously, in most cases you're only going to get called all-in by a better hand, so why risk whole stack for a small pot?
BUT, 15 hands down, it's been a rollercoaster (a gruesome rollercoaster), but you're back in the game. Part 2 next week (when a settled Dennis starts making som SMART plays!).

I had to delete huge chunks of text to get it to fit - anybody know how to copy/paste text from a post before it is submitted?

I don't know if I should be commenting on this or not. So forgive me if I'm not supposed to.

Hand 2: I agree with Rob on wither folding or calling preflop. I love playing K,J but it's not a good hand to raise with in early position.

Hand 3: Raised with K,J again preflop, but in better position this time. A bit aggressive to go all in after the flop. However, there is a straight possibility and you have top pair so it wasn't a bad move.

Hand 5: You must REALLY love suited connectors.

Hand 6: Good all in here. You were short stacked and you were going to be the Big Blind next hand so the chances of getting a better starting hand on the Big Blind is slim, although you would have better position. Good Job!

Hand 15: Rob couldn't put it any better.

If I wasn't supposed to comment on this, let me know now and I'll stop. I figured since this is Hand Analysis forum, we can give our insight as well.

O.K. Mr. Rob. I would like to thank you for part one and here are the drunken reasons for my madness.

#1 There is a 90% chance I was drunk while this was going on but that's O.K.:)

Hand #2 I was hoping to get more people to fold with a good out of position pre-flop raise. After the flop I don't know what the hell I was thinking.;) I think I was hoping my big bet would scare the Ace/whatever to fold. Looking back that was the bonehead play of the hand.

Hand #3 I was kinda on tilt and had the same face cards back to back. So I made my $100 raise again. Then this time after the flop I actually had the top pair and an OK kicker so I wanted the person with the Ace to put up or shut up. Being half on tilt at the beginning of this hand seeing my top pair made me froggy.

Hand #5 First let me point out that I play a lot of these $1 tourneys on Stars, so I have a pretty good idea at times. In this hand I called with my connectors. Then the low and desperate stack gos for it. I saw that there would be at least 3 of us in this one and had a hunch about the fourth one. So I thought this pot was worth taking a stab at. Boy am I a dumb ass. Oh Well.

Hand #6 You called this one pretty much dead on. Good cards, low stack, playing like crap. It was make a move time. This one worked out great.

Hand #16 Going back to me seeing people play with Ace/rag all the time, this hand gives me a slight sense of false security. I know that after the flop my kicker could've been killed, but I was getting anxious and once again wanted to either get up or get out. That's not the best way to play poker, but I was drunk.;) This hand ended up working out in my favor.

I told you from the start that this was one crazy ride of a tourney. I was actually chip leader in this one at one point. I look forward to seeing and responding to the next part.
