Bad luck ...

in my recent NLH tourney I knew my last chance was coming closer and closer. So when I got 88 being pretty last one on the table I called to see the flop. Flop came with 8xA so to me that was time to raise carefully not scare anyone away. Pretty happy I saw a big stack player going 3x the pot, so I raised all in. Well, Murphys law struck, the guy had AA so that was it.. Could I have played differently ? Probably not.

Set over set is just a cooler. Better to find some hands, where the decisions are less clear, and then post the entire hand history. See the sticky posts for instructions on, how to do that.

OK, still just learning to find my way through this website. What do you mean with the sticky posts?

Sticky threads are in top of the forum. Below are normal threads (like this one).

I would do the same if I saw that 8 on the flop...you didn't do anything wrong, it's set over set...that's poker.

Watch the player on the table how he play.......every table and player are diferent......some people never go but when he go you know that he has good card......so watch other player playing his hand and adjust your play there.....

The main thing is not to get upset and not to take everything too seriously. Poker is a game where it is virtually impossible to win without luck :)

Yea cooler for sure with the set over set but out of your control so you just move ahead to the next game and try again. I’m not sure what you meant by “raise carefully” ?

Massive cooler my friend, the only thing you can hope for is the one outer for quads. As for the set over set, did you have any info pre flop, he didn't raise Aces? I mean any way you have 8s so you can call a lot of the time anyway.

Play as your intuition tells you.It is important to understand that intuition is not a magical skill that will allow you to play 20 tables without compromising your performance. In random situations, the sixth sense will not be of much use. Your instincts will only work in relation to those moments that you have encountered. Remember that intuition in poker should not border on fantasy.
