This is a $2.50 Bounty tournament on GGPoker and I do not have much info on the players since this is the 5th hand of this tournament.

On the flop since it was only the BB I decided to c-bet and make it 1/2 pot and since he checked the second time I decided to make another bet, and I did check the river since if I was beat here I see no value in betting.

What would be your play here?

I don't like the Turn bet at all. What hand that calls the Flop is folding now? I think the answer is "a 5" and "66, 77, 88, maybe". These are not enough hands to make the bet profitable. ((A half pot bet must work 1/3 of the time as a bluff, this is not 1/3 of Villain's range.))

The lines I'd considered here are
- Bet small on the Flop (like 1/3 pot) to just get garbage to fold, then give up
- Triple barrel him to get everything below two pair to fold. If he never raises he probably has a Q or a 9; if you blast it on al three streets with pot-sized bets on Turn and River, he should fold the Queen. It's a pretty safe board to barrel. (If you do this, you have to give up if the River is a dangerous card like Td or Jd.)

I would also never bet half pot on this Flop, people will treat it mostly the same as third pot, I don't see the point.

Spoiler: I mean this doesn't matter, if you bet 44 on the Turn it's as a bluff, not for value.

Your statement---if I am beat here there is no value in betting the river---needs to be more succinct--- if you could get a 5xdd to fold should you bet? What about 66 or A7dd or 98off --- Does your V fold bottom of range made hands to the turn bet? Is the 3h a card that would make your V fold 66?

There is reason to bet the river here if our V has folds with weak hands better than ours

So our question should be can we get better to fold if we bet and what sizing would we use on river? Or what sizing should we use on turn to get more folds on river? When should we decide to turn 44 into a 3 street bluff? How often should we make that choice? Is this the board to do it on?

Preflop
Standard open.

Flop
Its a pretty wet flop, and typically such flops are not the best for C-betting wide. For that reason I might just check back here and then basically give up, if I face pressure later in the hand. The issue with this particular hand is, that unless we hit a 2-outer, we never really know, where we are. And for that reason I would rather continue with a hand like KJ or KT, where at least I have a gutshot, and I can improve to either top pair or second pair.

Turn
This was a good card for you, since nothing got there, that did not beat you already, other than specifically 33. Still Its pretty optimistic to bet fourth pair for value, and its not a scare card, so its not great to bluff at either. For that reason I would definitely check back now, if I had bet the flop. If I had checked back flop, and he checked to me again, then I might go for a small bet for value and protection though.

River
All draws missed, but you beat draws, so no reason to bet this hand as a bluff, and you definitely can not get 3 streets of value from anything worse.

Results
So you somehow managed to get 2 streets of value with an underpair to the board. But you are also value owning yourself against any hand, that is paired up, so I still dont love this.

rease standard 44, when we get called by the big we end up in a situation that happens a lot of BB vs LP, in theory the big blind should defend a wide range in this situation.
We should always analyze the boards in this situation, and I think your move was good to turn this average value into a bluff, since we have a lot of hands that connect to the board, making a size close to half a pot, but with high stacks I'm very strong to represent the Q.
When we read call and it turns into a blank, I don't bet again because it doesn't change anything and we will definitely get called. After the river hits, I would play the same as ck too.
