Hi everyone,

This is an $11 WCOOP event on pokerstars.

I have a bit of dilemma here, can someone explain to me what is the 3-bet range of the BU here ( if he checks the turn and then folds )

I can't seem to figure it out.
I think that 22,33,44,77,88,66,99, T9s,98s,54s.

Thank you.

Without looking at your spoiler, I'm assuming he had a decent PP but too many overs for him to call?
I agree. Its CO vs. BTN, so he can 3-bet pretty wide. Then on the flop he makes a very small "range bet" of less than 20% pot. Turn improves all the broadways, that had not paired up already, so if he has 66-99, what does he even beat, that would have called a 3-bet pre and also called a small C-bet on the flop? Or he could have a small suited connector and just decided to give up, when his C-bet was called.

You may be right with your guess, but if he 3-bets your range guess he's a bit strange, perhaps you miss KJs/QJs/AJs
Imo your guess contains way too many low pockets for a 3- bet, only 77-99 may be ok.

The near 50% pot bet from CO on the river smells like 55, or AA or any other value hand like A5s/o, perhaps second nuts KQs/KQo and JJ.
That are near to 50 combos that beat 2 pair and top pair combos, that is a lot.

A linear Button vs. CO range such deep would look like this.
There are other options for constructing ranges (condensed/merged/polarized) depending on the player reads,
but I think in such an early stage of the tournament, vanilla range may be ok.

brown = 3-bet and 4-bet or Jam
red = 3-bet and call 4-bet
light blue = 3-bet fold on 4-bet
dark blue
grey = Call and call squeeze
yellow = Call and fold vs. Squeeze
white = is an option to fold directly if you have reads
red/grey = you can mix options
blue/yellow = mix options of the single colours

It is always hard to tell how a player will play their range specifically as they may adapt their actions to their Villain's actions.
This player may check KK QQ thinking they could not get better to fold or worse to call. Then they fold to a V that has no bluffs and would not value bet a Jx hand. Which they should if that read was correct often in this spot it is. If that type of V has JX hand the check often and a small river bet for value by IP occurs with KK QQ

Some players will 3 bet Axs cards preflop then shut down on turn to protect stacks and then fold to a player that has no bluffs on river
We always want to notice when those low AX hands only tie other Ax hands or lose to better. A9s a possible 3 bet preflop only ties all other Ax worse so the player has to decide to call for a tie

They may also have preflop 3 bet bluff hands like 98s 87s which they bet small on flop and fold on river
Small pairs may blocker bet flop and fold as well.
