Why did Virginia lose to a 16 team?

Can anyone tell me why Virginia lost to a 16 team? Did they get drunk the night before? I think they threw the game.

...because upsets happen, because that's how sports work? How did the Eagles win the Superbowl after Carson Wentz tore his ACL? Also what possible reason could Virginia have had to throw that game?

That team shot lights out and they didnt take them seriously especially ealy in that game

Yup OZ - maybe so - but way against the odds - Virginia has been ranked #1 or close all year - then have a breakdown - logically this is insane - but on we go - lol.

it was bound to happen you need they played lights out in second half

I think UMBC's 68% from the field in the second half and 50% from three in the game might have had something to do with it.
