When is a Sport not a Sport?

I personally believe a Sport is something that involves skill, and or braun...
Skill alone, would therefore be only a game... such as Poker...
The following is my list of Sports that should not be classified as a Sport.
1. Darts.
2. Cricket.
3. Billiards.
Any Sport that does not involve test of strength and/or contact, is not a Sport.

I don't believe any cricketer could play any of the sports you mention as well as the other players of baseball, tennis and volleyball could play cricket...
The water cart will not be on the field, and tea time will not come!
Any pro baseball pitcher would bowl out any batsman in one inning...clean bowl!

I think every competition is a sport. Because we have to have skills, concentration, strategy and focus. It requires a lot of study and improvement.

Any activity in which you have any direct rival or opponent I think can be classified as a sport. Even the chess that is called the sport of the mind think that we can catalog it as a sport. When we talk about sports I do not think only of the physical part of the physical effort but also of the mental effort in which the involved part is the brain more than the muscles.:wavey::ciao:

Curling is a game...you are correct there... My Mom used to curl... It's a very good game, along with bocce ball for seniors etc...
I was going to add billiards to the list, but I play that a lot, and know the extreme skill involved!

I agree with everything you said except for Cricket not being a sport. I dont know too much about Cricket being that its not played here and not really known in the US. But I do know it consists of a bat and ball and in some way takes skill and athleticism. That is my definition of a sport, it have to have some type of physical/athleticism and skill involved. Which is why I wouldn't consider billiards, darts, bowling etc. a sport. They are unique skill competitions but not a sport!

You really must not know a thing about cricket. The ball is bowled at over 100mph. All but one player try to catch said ball with bare hands. Some players stand less than 10 yards from the batter.

Curling is a sport. I guarantee if you were to play a whole game you d wake up the next morning hurting in every muscle, a bunch you didnt even know you had.

Darts/billiards/poker/chess are games.

I love poker but consider it a game not a sport. I hate cricket and curling but consider it a sport. I just think you need to have athletic abilities to be considered a sport. Just my opinion.

Cricket, darts , biliard is not real sport i think too! But the tennis is that! Hard sport like a football and ufc.
