Jason Beddy is a currency hedge fund trader and an experienced sports investor who resides in London now. He is a former minor league pro soccer player.

He's making a move on Texas -4.5. This line opened at 4, but was steadily pushed up to almost a full touchdown as of yesterday. The market finally experienced some buyback last night, and it's now hovering around four-and-a-half.

Fans are excited in Ames, as Iowa State has scored 40+ points in each of it's first three games. There's even chatter that this could be the best offensive unit that the school has ever had. But Beddy feels this narrative is a bit too rich. He's glad the spread has come back down to earth, so he can get involved.

NOTE: Many "sharps" are backing Iowa State in this game. This Cyclone athletic program is usually a good value in both football AND basketball, as they don't get much national attention or hype...but not tonight.

Beddy says, "Texas will just have too many athletes for them to handle."

J.P. Evans is a grizzled Wall Street veteran who applies stock market strategies to picking sports winners.

The pick for today is Washington State +6 in the night-cap. It's a meeting of two undefeated teams, with the number 5 ranked USC Trojans paying a visit to number 16 Wash State. Tons of points are expected, with the O/U currently floating at 60.5.

There's two knocks on the Cougars in this spot. The first is that they haven't played a serious opponent yet. They're 4-0, but their strength of schedule ranking thru those four games is 129th out of 130 FBS teams. The second knock is that USC will have more skill on the field in this game, and that's really not debatable.

The quarterback matchup is a premier one. Luke Falk has won more games in his career than any other active QB in the Pac-12. He'll face a lot of Cover 4 tonight from the Trojan defense. J.P. mentions that Falk has KILLED Cover 4 packages lately, even going back to last season.

On the other side, Sam Darnold needs no introduction. Darnold is highly regarded by NFL scouts, but he's still looking to regain the magic he possessed during last year's Rose Bowl. This season, he's been somewhat inconsistent and is prone to the occasional head-scratching decision. And that's the difference tonight in J.P.'s mind. He says, "The bet is that Falk will make less mistakes than Darnold."
