Definitely the right decision that needed to be made, although it will definitely be a strain on the schedule and training cycle for those athletes expecting to compete at the highest level in a few months but instead have to push it off for another year. I saw an interview featuring Michael Phelps recently asking him about how the postponing of Olympics would impact the athletes. He said for swimmers, by this point of the year a couple months out, they've done all the training they can do and it's more of a cool down period before the games. Now their cycle's all thrown off and to put their body through that training regiment again is very difficult, even for the greatest athletes in the world. Not to mention the personal sacrifices of money, time, being away from friends and family, etc.
