This will be a day that for Dallas Cowboy fans will be a little somber. At 7:00 am CST the Iconic Texas Stadium will be imploded by an 11 year old boy from Terrell, Tx named Casey Rogers. Texas Stadium was one of if not the most recognizable stadium around, with its signature roof with a giant hole in it. What was the purpose of this hole you ask, well depends on who you ask really. I have heard that it was so the fans are protected from the elements but the players still played in them, Many will tell you it was so God could watch his favorite team, you can thank D.D.Lewis a linebacker for the Cowboys for that quote. In reality it was simply a engineering mistake. Texas Stadium was to have originally been a domed stadium, but the stadium could not support the weight of the entire roof, and public funding ran out before the roof support structure could be modified. There are 2 bars pictured below that were installed for a Garth Brooks concert to support his "rain" effect and they never removed them.

I actually got to watch a game at Texas Stadium in 2004. My aunt lives in Dallas and got me the tickets. I have to say it was one of the best moments of my life, growing up as a Cowboys fan and watching the games and seeing that stadium on T.V. it just looked spectacular. I have to say from the utside it really looked worn out I was disappointed when we arrived in the parking lot and I saw it up close the first time. But once inside it was just incredible. I'm happy that I got to experience before they left. Cowboys beat the Browns 19-12.

When I first moved here in May 2003, within a day of arriving I was off to Dallas for a week to see a new equipment installation. On the Sunday we weren't working so myself and the colleague I was with went off to Texas Stadium and paid to do the stadium tour.

It was great! We got to tour the changing rooms and see all the players names on their specific changing locations, go up to the executive boxes and see how the other half lives - and they live VERY nicely btw!

Then we got to go on to the pitch and they even set it up for us to throw a few balls (I was totally useless at that part obviously - as US football players will know there is a very specific way to pass the ball that is not simply throwing). They did also let us all try to kick a field goal, though, and I managed to get one between the posts! It was a really good tour and we had a great time. I have always had a soft spot for the Cowboys and Texas Stadium since then.
