Do you mean you're going to do the marathon in a canoe, or did you just call a rowing boat a canoe ?

Anyway, that's a nice challenge, 100km is definitively a long distance ! I did myself a few marathon (44km in my case) in a rowing boat.

I was wondering the same thing.

If you're in a canoe you are 'paddling' (not 'rowing').

In my youth I paddled in flat water racing canoe (competed in C-1 & C-2 sprint 500m & 1,000m) & raced against Larry Cain in provincial championships (future Olympic medal winner).
As part of our early season training program, we would paddle 20km on a daily basis. 100km would be a grind.

That's nice ! I'm actually a rower (I compete in 1x and 4x). We also do 20km on a daily basis, sometimes 2x20km in training camps, but a training like this already takes 1h30-2h depending on the days, so 100km is a lot.

For the record, we compete mainly in 2000m ;)

My older brother was a rower (Don Rowing Club in Ontario canada) & competed in the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta (famous Canadian regatta in St.Catharines, also held the World Championships in 1999).
The Don Rowing Club was a very small rowing club situated just down the river from a very large canoe club (the rowers were not very popular among the paddlers because the paddlers would often get hit by the rowers as they were not looking where they were headed). Silken Lauman started out rowing at this club and actually lived on the street next to mine where I grew up as a child.

Thanks, i am packing my things and i m planing to take 1 extra full clothing into boat with plastic bag. If we crash and canoe is going over i can get dry complete set. The water is aprox. 5 degree and the forecast saying it can be slight rain at the morning (air temp aprox 5), but in mid day should be dry (ait temp 10 degree). I have escort car where is another set of full clothing and stuff. I have in the canoe 6 pair gloves (3 working leather gloves plus 3 waterpfoof gloves). I will take 3 liters liquid into canoe, 1 L magnesium drink with salt; 1L water with salt; 1L with salt + consentrated juice added with sugar. Loads of energy baton; salt cucumber....etc

hmmmm what else....

Also i participate 500 m ergometer in team competition (2000m total), my time was 1:34 (500m on ergometer) , but i had a lot left could get even less that 1:30.

It all depends on your physical fitness! The main thing in this event is not to harm your health! Still, this is a very serious test for you, be careful! If there are photos from the marathon to share them, I think it will be something unusual!

thanks, without live vest they do not let you into water. Thanks i hope we have the wind in a right direction. But since it takes place in a river there is flow which can carry you along a bit. People whome already participated in that event sayd last 20 km is water still and it can be really painfull to imagine that you already have 80km behind. And probably by that time is evening and it is dark so head lamp is most be.

i also snowboarding alot and similar things is with skiiers and snowboarders, they just disturb each other somehow :D snowboarders like carving and go a bit slower than skiiers, but skiiers want to go real fast usually. I remember when i came downhill aprox 60 km per hour and skiier crashed into me and then start jellying on me that i am blocking the road and so on... but yea it can happen in a extreme sport. thanks for your reply
