I always hated the Yankee's, still do.

I know what this man did for this organization.

He will be missed.

Didn't realize he was 80 years old. Not sure there will be another Baseball owner with the same results he has been able to achieve. Love or hate the Yankees, it is impressive.

RIP Georgie...He'll probably fire Billy again.

Being from the Bronx, and a diehard lifelong Yankee fan, and been to many games, was deeply saddened to hear this on the radio this morning. But had to chuckle when I thought the same thing. They sure had a love hate relationship, but provided almost daily amusement for New Yorkers everywhere on the back page of the NY Post. RIP, George, you were truly one of a kind.

I wonder if 2 of his players will buy him a 300 million dollar funeral like the 300 million he spent on 2 players. LMAO

Hate the Yankees here too, but I always did think a lot of George Steinbrenner. He was a helluva businessman. RIP George.

I Bleed boston blood. With that said. Thanks George for everything you did for baseball. No matter what side of the NewYork/Boston line u fall on, he was a pioneer for the Yankees and Baseball in general.

A living legend at one point. Now a legend for eternity.

The old Steinbrenner story was that George was at a game and the vendor came by selling souveneirs. Vendor asks Steinbrenner if he would like to buy a pennant, Steinbrenner says "No thanks, I already bought one"

It was funnier in 1977, when free agency was in its early days. He always kept the Yankees on the front page though. I will give him that much.

Here's hoping that sometime in the next few years, ESPN decides to stop doing daily tributes to Steinbrenner.

Why can't AL Davis just go away, we lose a great owner, who just wants to win and we still have davis who just wants to hire and fire, and lose.

Former Red Sox pitcher Bill Lee did not soften his stance on George Steinbrenner following the Yankees owner's death Tuesday. "As far as Steinbrenner's passing? Good," Lee said in an interview with New Hampshire TV station WMUR. Added Lee: "Trust me, if hell freezes over, he'll be skating."
