Hi everyone!

I have heard that there are some professional chess players that combined their job with poker. I understand that in the elite Nakamura and Grischuk are amount them.

Do you guys know more professional chess players that play "serious" poker?

And do you do you think is there any relation between being good at chess and being good at poker?

they re two sports very very differents, then when you share your attention, you lost your focus and both chess and poker needs a huge volume of studying and training

Chess and poker are two different games.

In Chess once you find a way to win, the game is sealed. In poker it is not. Chess players will find that frustrating.

Chess makes you learn about patience, to think at least twice about making a move so you don't regret later. It is important for poker.

Chess is actually good for tournament poker play because it teaches you about strategy and patience.

Making money in Chess is tough because you have to play almost all the games of Chess tournament well to win or draw. One blunder and your whole week of excellent chess games in that tournament is wasted. It is more time-consuming and mentally draining which makes playing poker easy without tilting even if you lose some big pot 80%+ hands.

In Poker, you can make mistakes, go down in chips but you always know it just a chip and a table logic.

Its is easier to make money in Poker than Chess. That is the most important point that Chess players learn when they move to poker. Also most poker tournaments doesn't last more than two days play and you don't need to constantly think what your opponent will play to devise a game plan. You can relax in poker tournaments. It is the most appeasing point for Chess players going into poker. Chess needs lots of studying and preparation but poker needs just little if not none and good chess players are not lazy to prepare for poker.

The variance will almost normalize your profit in the long run and that is something Chess players will learn the hard way when they take it too casually but good chess players would have already analyzed variance and know it involves donks and luck.

That depends... some who play poker would be playing it like they're playing checkers when the game is chess.

I've heard of a few professional chess players making the transition. Obviously the 'thinking' as in 'game theory' stuff... thinking on mulitple levels, etc. (something a level 1 thinking poker player would not be able to understand).
