Premier League to discuss shutting down on Monday?

I personally don't think this is a good idea - teams should just play while they're able to.
How would they even know how long to break for? In 2 months time enough players/staff could still be testing positive that games will still be getting called off, so having a shut-down now would be a waste of time.
There's a 2 week mini-break in early February - hopefully teams should be able to catch up on 2 or 3 missed matches then

Premier the best league in the world!
Do you ask for a stop for the holidays or do you intend to close due to the Covid? I have not read news about it, explain a little more please if they will discuss the closure due to the pandemic or as a logic for the holidays. If so, I consider that a 2-week stop is perfect.:D

The reason they often play twice in 3 days in December is because of public holidays.
Because Christmas Day and Boxing Day fall on a weekend this year, the 27th and 28th are public holidays. Which means that matches can take place in the daytime and fans can attend because they're not working.
Same thing sometimes happens at new year - this year (or is it "next year"?!), for example, new years day is a Saturday, so Monday 3rd is a public holiday, so really there should be a round of games scheduled then.

This is something foreign managers don't seem to grasp. Van Gaal, Klopp, Biesla etc have all had a good moan about it in recent years. I guess because they don't have to do a proper job and can just focus on football all day every day, they think the paying public can too.

Yes, they've decided to carry on playing where possible. Sensible decision in my opinion.
Only problem is they've scrapped replays for the FA Cup in order to make more room in the schedule.
I'll post again on January 11th and let you know how many struggling lower league teams have been screwed out of a money spinning replay because of this decision.

Better to play in front of empty stands than to deprive us of football altogether.

They should look at what the NFL did. If a player is fully vaccinated, do they really need to quarantine for 10 days if they have a negative test after a few days and no symptoms?

OK so I'm posting a month late. There was nothing of note in the 3rd round, but today Kidderminster Harriers have been screwed out of a trip to West Ham's London Stadium.
As a neutral observer, though, I've got to say it is more exciting when everything's decided on the day.
