Hi Everybody, I first knew sports betting more than 15 years ago and then I got to know online poker, then I saw that several online poker rooms were introduced in the world of sports betting and vice versa, so my question is what percentage of poker players believe you who also make sports bets?

I started out playing online poker and switched to both playing poker and betting sports about 5 years ago. My guess is a lot of people who play online poker also bet on sports online because most online poker rooms also have a sportsbook. I’m sure a lot of people who play live at the casino also bet sports especially now that Sportsbetting is legal in the USA.

I think no more than 20%. The one who wins the poker will not bet on sporting events, because in order to win on the bets you need to spend a lot of time collecting information about the teams. It is difficult purely physically, for some time I was betting, but I gave up, because, in my opinion, it is much more difficult and more danger than poker.

i'm also one, but i try to make an exaustive investigation of matches when i bet, I think that many people who previously only played poker also started to make sports bets just because a lot of poker rooms (which previously only offered poker games) also started offering sports bets, so I think that if before it was 10% now it's 90!

Once upon a time, many years ago (I'm 71 - so you could also say, back in the olden days), my main form of gambling was horse racing (both Standardbreds and Thoroughbreds). My Cardschat and all my online poker site usernames are racehorses. But now days, I rarely bet on them.

My main form of gambling is now sports betting.

As for poker, I only play for entertainment. I would have to improve a lot (or have that thing called variance be kind to me), before I invest on playing poker, what I do on sports betting.

I am one of those too, but not that much to make money. My sportsbetting increases my level on different sites so I can play more poker (freerolls).

As example, I like to bet to get even, but win some points :)

Last one I did:

1) Boston (NHL) wins in regular time + NYY wins vs Toronto
2) St-Louis (NHL) wins in regular time
3) Draw between Boston and St-Louis after 60 minutes

1.92$ total bets; 2.02S won. Increased my level by 12 points.

My only way to lose that bet was a win for Boston in regular time and a win for Toronto. Didn't happen. Option 2 won it and it was my worse case scenario with a winning bet.

In all my years I've placed maybe at most ten bets on horses five bets on dogs, one bet on football... I did the pools UK football thing maybe seven times...

I've spent more money on poker than all my betting history and that has been in the region of £200... That's in my whole life...

I think it probably varies from place to place, depending on legality and how easy it is to do one or the other. Right now I bet sports but rarely get to play poker, because online poker got banned in Australia but I have half a dozen perfectly legal sports betting Apps on my phone.

A more interesting question, IMO, would be what percentage of poker players also make sports bets, and are winners at both? I've found there's actually not a lot of crossover in applicable skills outside of having the right mindset to cope with risk and variance.

I think that many people start betting after playing poker. Most sites push their other services and people get hooked. Of course that can work the other way around also. People bet and start to play poker.

I don't know about percentages , but I am sure many poker players bet at sports and vice versa .

I was betting at football/basketball every week , losing overall due to loose bets and very risky odds , I wanted to get rich very fast lol haha, and then I started playing poker . Now I bet very little money for fun , or seriously more rarely on big events , tennis especially (live preferably) . I want to become (a lot more ) active again , but only seriously , meaning to watch games , know the news and the abilities/condition of the athletes , do my homework , not just burn/throw money from the window like in the past :)

I think betting is more popular, so there are many players among poker players
