NFL Pick'em Game

Since I am also a reformed football gambler { which means , Yes, I lost alot more than I should have and quit before it got ugly} I want to start a new thread here for Pro-Football addicts who want to bet, just not with real money.

This will start in Week 2 of the NFL season. There is no VIG on games as this is just for fun. Once you are out of money, if you beg enough , we may let you back in. That'll be up to the other players. At the end of the season The person with the most money left from their $1000 will be declared the Champion. You will be lauded with accolades from the remaining players. Yeah , thats about it. But it will be fun!!

{copy and paste and take out the spaces} We will use the DAY BEFORE THE GAME LINE , you'll be able to pick as many games as you want and post them here. I'll start everyone with $1000.00 and i'll keep score of winnings and losings and post them here.

We'll do basic wagering. If anyone has Ideas about different wagering or any other imput, feel free to let me know. Once we start, we won't change anything.

Against the spread { No moneylines }
Teasers 2 teams for 7 points {Ties Lose}
Teasers 3 teams for 9 points {Ties Lose}

Parlays
2-Play Parlay: 13/5
3-Play Parlay: 6/1
4-Play Parlay: 10/1
5-Play Parlay: 20/1
6-Play Parlay: 40/1

When doing you picks, please make it a simple as possible. This will make it easier to keep track of.

example: Patriots -11.5 $100
KC - Tenn parlay $100
Minnesota - Under teaser $100

After you have made your wagers , feel free to tell everyone why you think you'll take home the cake. Anyone can join until week 5, then I'll close it off. This is just for fun, but who knows. I may come out of retirement if someone gets on a roll.

Teasers are if you pick 2 or 3 bets you can add 7 or 9 points to them to manipulate the line as you like.

Example ...in tonights game the line in the Patriots game is PATRIOTS -11.5 and the under/over is 47.5...if you took the Patriots and the UNDER your new line would look like this

Patriots -4.5 and UNDER 54.5
or you could take the Patriots and the over which would look like this
Patriots -4.5 and OVER 40.5
or you could take the Bills and UNDER
Buffalo +18.5 Under 54.5
or the Bills +18.5 and Over 40.5
They are not limited to one game, you can take The Patriots and give the 4.5 points and take San Diego and TEASE them down to 3

Patriots -4.5 and San Diego -3
or you can tease two or three teams {you get 9 on three plays}, two or three overs or unders. The thing about teasers are that you MUST WIN both or all three bets OUTRIGHT to win your bet. Ties, you lose.

Parlays are alost the same as teasers but you do not get additional points, but you get better odds. Teasers are 1-1 odds , so if you bet $100 you winn $100. In a PARLAY you take any 2-3-4-5 or 6 teams. If you win all of the bets in that parlay you win your odds times your bet. You can parlay any bets you want...two over/unders, two teams, one team with the O/U, any team with any O/U...whatever you want

Example
the Patriots are -11.5
and the o/u is 47.5
the Chargers are -10 42.5

Patriots -11.5 and Over 47.5 $100 parlay
Both the Patriots and the Over win tonight you win $13 for every $5 you bet 20X13=$260.00. Odds for bigger parlay bets are listed above.

^^Does this mean Patriots are favored to Win or Lose by 11.5 points? 47.5 is more than teams usually score in a football game (unless you're playing against Detroit, lol) so I have no idea about that number.
How can you have a 1/2 point?

I believe the over/under is the combined score of both teams. So if NE scored 41 and Detroit scored 0, the under would pay.

Your example:

When they give the 1/2 points, there will be a outright winner, since no-one can score a 1/2 point. On the other side, If you were to take the Jets you would be +11.5. Either way, your team must COVER the spread. Example. Pats win 47-10...they covered the 11.5 making the bettors score 35.5 to 10. If the Jets win 20-10, they cover because they were getting 11.5 making the score, in the bettors world 31.5 to 10. Now, if the Pats win 25-20 that would make the bettors score Patriots 13.5 to Jets 20 and you would lose, if you took the Pats.
47.5 is more than teams usually score in a football game (unless you're playing against Detroit, lol) so I have no idea about that number. Yes again, this number is the combined score of both teams, added together. Once again there will be no ties here as no-one can score the 1/2 point
